The part number for the Toyota OEM inner tie rod is -
45503-39075 part number is the same for both sides
the rubber boot part number if needed is -
(split model year for 1997)
1995-11 to 1997-06 45535-35010 part number same for both sides
1997-06 to 2002-08 45535-35030 part number same for both sides

you get both inners and boots with a remanned rack, thanks for the part numbers i may just keep my rack and replace what needs it, i'd just hate to replace both the inners and outters then have my rack start going sloppy...

My steering rack is wearing out and I just read this thread. Has anyone looked into getting a rebuild kit and doing it yourself? I would be most inclined to do this as it costs $110 and your getting all new seals. Also I trust my own work over some guy at a shop who in the end just wants to get his pay check. A debate I read earlier was over the fact that the internal metals may be worn out in the rack, and getting new seals really wont remedy the problem in that case. At least not for long. Im not sure I buy into that though. If the internal metal is constantly lubed by the power steering fluid, it shouldnt wear out. As far as I know all the friction occurs between metal parts, and rubber seals. I find it very unlikely that the pistons in my engine can run between 1000 and 7000 rps for 165000 miles and still be strong, and yet the metal inside the rack (which moves back and forth at turtle speeds and experiences very little heat relative to pistons) would be worn out. Any opinions/experience? Heres a link to the rebuild kit.

I would not trust any other aftermarket TRE's. If you purchase them through Advance I believe they are Moog's and come with a Lifetime warranty. I would only purchase OEM or Napa's(made in Japan). Theres about a 20$ difference between the two. But yea, Do not purchase them from Advance, Vatozone or PepBoys. They will break on you.

i went there today to get some and the ones they have are from china and taiwan! so what brand are those japanese parts?
