Input on new purchase

So I am looking at buying another 3rd gen for my wife. Found this yesterday, and have already talked to him. Seems to be in good shape, with a lot of maintenance. Only downside seems to be the high miles. She doesn't drive a ton of miles, only put 7k on her car last year.

He said bottom dollar is $3500, although I think I can get a another hundred or two if I show up with cash. Would you guys go for it, or pass cause of the miles?

For $3500 with those options and the maintenance performed (granted they have all receipts), it looks like a good deal to me. They mentioned LBJ's are tight with no play, but we all know with those miles of they haven't been replaced at least once at this point, it's a ticking time bomb. So LBJ's and probably a new radiator to avoid the Pink Milkshake since it's an auto, I'd say go for it.

Ya I asked about the radiator and its original, so that would be changed. I plan on doing my LBJs soon, so I'd knock them both out. I'd mention those two items when offering the cash...

Very clean for spending time in the rust belt! I would look under it first thing for rust. Other than that, from the photos , it looks good. I say $3500 cash and drive it home.

I'd pick it up for $3500, If the motor fails or head cracks in a year or two you can make your money back by parting out the truck. The locker & tires will get you back 1/3 or more alone.

But for that matter I would just find a newer engine if the time ever comes.

Good Luck with it.:thumb3:

Someone took good care of that 4runner, no doubt about it. I've seen 4runners with half the mileage that look 10x worse.

Also a big plus is that the CL poster is literate, and generally has a good idea of what was replaced and such.

For $3500 it would be a good buy.

Take a couple of pics and post when you get it.

Honestly? It looks in great and clean condition, seems like the owner really took care of it and got a lot of maintenance done for you in the last year or so especially. Also, as Little Caesar said, him being literate and writing that CL post well is another good sign.

Go for it!

My parents are heading up to Minneapolis to see my brother. My dad was going to go by on the way up and check it out since its on the way. I trust his judgment, and if he thinks its good, he's going to grab it for me.

P.S. PBR, I figured you'd chime in...or try to buy it from under me!

Nah, I wouldn't do that. plus, at $3500 there's no margin in it for me. I just sold my '97 today, I'm down to 2 now. Hoping to finish up the '00 soon and be down to just 1.

It is super clean, and seems like you will only have to put a few more hours and a few hundred bucks into some preventative maintenance,

as soon as you get it home strip those emblems or plastidip that gold!!!!!!

Look forward to seeing it.

i hate you, HAHA 4runners in hawaii like those are so overpriced..
if i had that deal locally, it'd be bought.

So I bought it. Parents went and looked at it and my dad said if I didn't he would! $3500, which is pretty good considering the condition. Needs a windshield and that's about it. The wife and I are heading to Chicago on Friday, so we're picking it up on the way there. Here is a link to some more pics.

Man , I can't take this! New wheels and tires and now another sweet 4runner:crybaby: What's next? the lottery? J/K , congrats man! :cheers:That 4runner looks great. Even the driver side leather seat looks pretty good for those miles.Have a safe trip:driving:

Ya when it rains it pours. We've been on the bad side of this before, it's nice to be on a positive roll! I'll make sure and take a bunch of pics when we get back in town.

It'll be low key for her. Deck plate, some LEDs inside, and getting rid of gold emblems. It has a really slow drip from the rear seal, so that'll get changed in the next couple months. I'm jealous though, it's got an elocker! The wife's not into the mods as much as I am....yet.
