Input on selling my tires/pricing

Have a trail edition with about 500 miles, putting different wheels and tires on and want to sell the stock wheel and tire. What do you all think is a decent price for them together or seperate.

There are three main things you will face when selling new factory tires/wheels such as these:

1) A lot of your potential buyers will only need/want one.
2) Some of your potential buyers will not care about the tires, they only want the rim.
3) Shipping tires and wheels is hugely expensive.

That being said, it really boils down to the right buyer at the right time and how serious you are about moving them fast.

Now, if you go to here:

You can see they are asking $1300 and have 20 watchers. SO there is definitely interest. If you scroll down on that page you will see the average is around $1100 shipped.

You really want to sell them?

Undercut the opposition and offer yours for $150 less and you will probably move them within a day or two.

Thanks, shipping would obviously be a large factor, hopefully I can find some local buyers. If not I will have to go the eBay route. I think I am open to selling one at a time also, but would prefer to do it all at once. Thanks for the advice!

Local buyer is definitely the best route, if possible. If not, undercut your competition. Nothing sells better than a perfect product (new rims with 500 miles on them) priced slightly below the competition. ;-)

That's about the norm.
Also keep in mind.... Your TPMS
Selling stock setup, and not breaking down rims from tires, means you leave TPMS. That may not be worth it to you.

That's a great point, I want to keep that. I am putting on some grey TRD wheels, those don't happen to have the TPMS in them do they?

They do not, you will want to have to the tire shop move the sensor from the factory wheels to your TRD wheels. At that point I would have them leave the Tires and Wheels separate as it opens up the market. I had no issues selling my new tires for $400 on craigslist in a few days (they fit a decent amount of older American trucks/SUV's......most new ones have 18+in wheels but those are not normally the type of folks looking for tires on craigslist anyways)

Wheels seem to go for $125-150 ea. so if you can get that you are around 1000 for selling the package individually.

P.S. If you are wanting to separate and are close to Ashville I would be willing to take one, maybe 2, from you (I have family in that area)

Thanks for the information, I will make sure they switch them when I get them on Thursday, and selling everything separated sounds like the way to go. I am about 4 hours east of Ashville, but if I can't get rid of them I will reach out.

I'm interested in buying the wheels. They are the stock 20" limited wheels correct?

I sold my Trail rims fairly quickly as individuals. Shipping was $25 - $30 each. Reused the boxes that the new rims came in, and all was dandy.

I can't remember what I priced my rims at...$125 or $150. $1000 for the set ain't gonna happen.

The trouble most make is want to get too close to retail. What I do is find the best price online and deduct 25% if its almost like new. List the info in the ad.

Bigger deduction for more wear. And even bigger deduction when selling to a fellow forum member.

I've sold here and on CL and never waited more than a few days.

And don't be afraid to ship - My 20" wheels went completely across the country. Tape a UPS label to a tire and just bubble wrap the wheels.

I just sold the OEM tires of my F250 with about 1000 miles. Instead of thinking about the sale price I looked at it as I got brand new KO2s for about $100 each.

They have only seen the highway so minimal wear, I am looking at it the same way, if I get 700-900 back I get new wheels and KO2s for about 4-600 and I can live with that!

I'm actually looking for new TEP rims for my trailer and spare , but hoping to swap making and shipping a nice, handmade drawer system for back of your truck. I'm actually getting ready to start my new set, so cutting out two is no big deal.

That drawer system is pretty awesome, but right now probably prefer just selling them.

I've had a few bites, but they all backed out. Finally, a friend offered to buy them last week. I was surprised they did not sell quicker. Everyone wanted to buy the tires... Nobody wanted the rims. There is almost no market for them.

Trail wheels might have more appeal, but the stock tires have very little value.

I figured people would be smart enough to know that $500 would get them a great set of wheels and tires for offroad use. Keep their stock wheels for daily.... Don't get why people are too lazy to take 30 minutes to swap.

Yeah I think I am going to have to seperate, sell the tires and then try to get rid of the rims other ways, or maybe I get lucky and someone around here really wants them. Either way I might be selling one wheel at a time on ebay, doesn't seem like the shipping is too bad.
