DAMN!!! That thread is a perfect example of a worse case scenario. Sorry that happened to you 4Route and thanking God I didn't have to go through any of that. I was in the back of the shop the entire install (I'm a little controlling). So I would have caught anything out of the ordinary.

Shows you just how much you can't trust even a "reputable" shop.

You're lucky, because they didn't give me the option of staying - they basically said they didn't know when they'd get around to it, sent me on my way, did everything wrong, and then never even called me to let me know it was done.

Through the whole ordeal, however, I did find what I think will turn out to be a decent dealership -- the Toyota of Irving one. They were appalled by what Mike's Offroad had done to the truck and they couldn't even undo it themselves.

Anyway, just want everyone to be cautious.

Same day service, super friendly, nice clean shop, excellent customer service from "Jeff". Examples of their work all over the place. MAJOR suspension and custom lift mods going on there, all makes and models. I don't think there's much choice for off-road shops in the area and "Mike" may be thinking he's dominating the market so he can be an a$$ and jack up prices. But there are other options... "Mike" quoted me $500 over the phone for the spacer install (I was like, WOW! No thanks!) I ended up paying $325 total at No Limits, and again, great same day service with a

PS - No offense, "Mike". I'm sure you have a loyal following with raves to boot! (incase he or they are reading this, don't want them coming after me

Brett -- Thanks! It always helps to hear about other people's experiences - it's how good shops benefit from their good service, and how bad shops shoot themselves in the foot.

You would think that we live in such a big city/area that there'd be more shops!!

Anyway, I may eventually look into that shop, and appreciate the recommendation!!

Brett - yours is looking awesome too!!! By the way, I contacted the shop you recommended and so far Jeff seems like a great guy - he seems happy to help and says he'll take care of me. I'll probably call on Monday to set up an appointment. Thanks again for mentioning him/his shop - I'll be sure to note how it all goes.

Nope, and close to 28k on the tires with tons of tread left! 60k on the truck....need new brakes soon, hoping to go with a better setup, probably ceramic pads and stainless brake lines. Might look into slotted/drilled rotors but haven't done enough research to decide one way or the other.

I know this is an old thread but I guess since it's the 285/70R17 Cooper Discoverer STT thread, I'll contribute. I just installed them as well. Along with OME springs and struts all around. I don't mean to butt in but man for the money you guys spend on labor you could have had all new springs and struts if you just did the work yourselves. Even if you spend a couple hundred on tools, at least you get to keep the tools instead of padding some other dude's wallet. Just my thoughts on the matter, I know some people are busy, but I've always figured no one would take the kind of care I'll take with my own property. I spent about $700 total for the OMEs and couldn't be happier. I found the tires in an ebay auction from eastcoast tires for $900 shipped for 4. The guy would have shipped a 5th for free at $200/tire but I decided to wait 'til I had a carrier for it. here's a link to a set of 4 for $800 now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-NE...015QQitemZ250160381112QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW All the local shops quoted $265/tire or more. You have to search for the tire name to find them online. Places like tirerack won't have them most times. Incidentally, it's that blue 4Runner of Brett's with the white letters out that turned me on to the Coopers. I think that thing looks bad ass. As for a review, I personally think they're pretty loud with only 500 miles on them but I don't care. The truck is a blast to drive anywhere now. I happen to also be running the spidertrax spacers and there were more clearance issues after the install than before. I only had about 1/4 inch clearance at the UCA though so I had to install them and just trim. I like the bulldog stance they gave it.

Glad you like the tires. Your truck looks awesome, especially with the OME's! You're right about the money spent on labor. It was a beating, but I didn't need all new struts and springs. The time I saved not having to install was spent working...which made up for the money I spent on labor (and then some!) Congrats on the great looking rig : )
