My opinion of a cornfed lift? brace yourself.

in my opinion it's a bandaid on a sucking chest wound. You want suspension man. Those spacers will hold you over and let you mount bigger tires. And if that's all you have in mind for your truck then enjoy. But my rig takes me everywhere these days and I wouldn't have it any other way. I went through OMEs (old man emu brand springs and struts) on my way to Donahoe (icon) coil overs.

And I bet there are guys out there who have done a cornfed, followed by OME, followed by ICON, followed by kings.

I think that kind of migration happens a lot for all 4x4 ($x$) guys. My suggestion is just go straight to kings or icons and be done with it. You'll want more after the cornfeds, trust me.

But, the stuff is always easy to sell when you're done with it so if you're committed to them already then enjoy it while it lasts. It's like puswah, you just have to upgrade every so often, lol.

edit: oh and more pics are available here. My whole photobucket is public right now. My girl's hot huh?

TO let you guys know, I also sell the OME lift, it's just not on the website. I've sold the Cornfed and the OME. I you like the way your truck rides now, want to lift it without spending alot, the Cornfed spacers will do just that.

If you don't like the way your truck rides now, want more flexbility, and price isn't a big deal, then the OME is the ticket.

Just read every post on this thread and i'm smiling b/c I've finally found my tire! Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts on these tires. Couple questions from me; I have the Daystar 2.5/2 lift; could I expect the same experiences as you all have had or will I run into more rubbing/fitment problems due to the shorter front end lift? (basing this on the 3/2 cornfed).

Are any of you with the STT tires have a V6? If so, what was the mileage/charateristics of the new tires vs. stock size?

Lastly, how much do these tires weigh?

Seatown - to address your questions...

With a 2.5/2 inch spacer lift, you are looking at a bit more rubbing on the front bumper...but nothing that can't be solved with a dremmel and a bit of elbow grease : )

I have a V6 and just got back from a trip to Houston. It indicated I was making an average of 15 mpg at 80mph - freeway driving. That being said, I don't know how much you can depend on the accuracy of the read-out as the computer doesn't take into account my larger tires.

I couldn't find any information on the weight of the STT's (the Cooper website only lists height/width/load details) but they are not as heavy as the Toyo Open Country MTR's if that helps : ) The Armor-Tek3 carcass adds the additional weight but it serves as a bullet proof vest when it comes to off-roading.

I'm glad you liked the thread! You can't go wrong with the STT's

Trik444, thanks for getting back to me on my questions! I checked Coopers website too amongst others and the tire weights for the STTs are not listed anywhere. Did you downsize to 275s? I see that you installed 285's on your first post, but your signature states 275.

Thanks again

I want the 285s stts but what is the mileage error on speedo??? What do people do since they cant fit the spare can they wobble on the factory 265 spare?

Someone will have to validate this but I think I remember someone telling me that if you are at highway speeds your speedo can be off by about 5 mph or so and mileage is lower by about 12-15%

you can still use the factory spare if neccessary right?

lets say you get a flat in the front you could take off rear tire and move it to front and put spare on rear

Question for you TRIK.......I am buying 4 Stts new for $915 shipped...good deal??

I am worried what to tell the tire mounting people who will put them on about the TPMS on the rig. Did you have to have your stems replaced did you have any problems with the TPMS light after going to the 285s?

WHat should I consider before taking my STTs to them to get put on my rig??

That's right about what I paid for mine after researching around for a bit. The wheel shop didn't have to mess with the TPMS sensors when I switched to my larger tires. The sensor is actually mounted to the rim. So they shouldn't have to mess with it unless you are switching out your wheels as well.

I really don't have any pointers to give you except make sure the technician does a good balance job when he installs the new ties. Some technicians like to use clamp weights on the exterior of your wheels and some like to use the stick on weights that run along the inside of your rim. I have heard pros/cons for each practice - clamps are an eye-sore, but stick on weights can sometimes loosen and fall off.
