Install question for ARB Tacoma bumper on 96 4Runner

Hey guys,

I just want to make sure this is going to work before I get too far off in to this. My 4runner was manufactured 12/95 so it's an earlier 3rd gen. I popped the bumper preparing to install the ARB bamf I bought from SURF RUNNER and this is what I found. It just doesn't look like what you see on the tutorial documents or youtube videos.

I'm thinking I just need to pop these two end cap looking deals off. Amirite?

Not sure about how the bumper fits, but on mine, those two end caps are just held on with a 12mm bolt--use an extension on your ratchet and it'll fit down inside there. They look like they're welded on but actually aren't, at least on mine.

So I've popped those off and it looks like the Tacoma frame end in the ARB directions except mine has a lip protruding around the edge. I'm thinking I just need to grind those down and the rest of the install will be like a Taco install.

That will work. Some people in Cut the whole endcap off and go with that. The best thing to do is the "endcap mod". (Especially if you plan on winching or getting recovered from the front)

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Honestly it was pretty straight forward:

-squared up the ends of the frame
-put the mounts on with bolts to figure out where to drill the 1/2" holes, drilled with mounts on
-had LOTS of extra parts lol

Oh and put everything on hand tight until you have the bumper sitting like you want. Then tighten a bolt, check it, tighten one check it, etc etc. Then tighten everything one last time.

Looks like its sitting really low... You can re-drill the three mounting holes on each side and raise it up some...

It isnt sitting low so much as thats a body lift gap. Drilling new holes is a good idea, ill probably look into that when i get time. Thanks :biggrin2:
