Installation time

Here is a question for all you pros.

How long does it take to install a 3" (coil overs and rear springs) lift into a 4runner?

How long does it take to install an E locking Differential retrofit into 4runner.

Just trying to gauge my next projects and how much to expect the charge to be.

Honestly it really comes down to if you have the right tools and if you run into any stubborn nuts, bolts, etc, etc. Where are you located? Most of us here love wrenching on these things and are down to help a fellow member out.

not sure about the elocker retrofit but my suspension took 3 1/2 hours with a friend, easy easy easy

Suspension is easy breezy, im sure someone on this forum would help, ~4 hours


Elocker would take awhile though, you have to pull the shafts, and the third, install locker and actuator, so your looking at the healthy part of a day there...

Tomorrow is the day. I will install the lift and locker at one shot.

I imagine the coil over will be a breeze for the front.


I will probably start with the rear first and see how it goes.

Starting Measurments.

Stock 99 4X4 limited 4Runner, 3/4 tank of gas.

RR 34 3/4"
LR 34 3/8"
LF 34 1/2"
LR 34 3/4"

The actual work isnt bad, but I delt with alot of very rusty bolts whch realy made it a pain.

Started at 8:00 am and at 2:00 finished the rear end work. All of it. The lift and the diff.

Put the front coil overs in this morning. Finished in 2 hours. I guess the whole job took me 8 hours. Just to give you heads up, nothing was frozen or rusted on.

Welding, Drilling and Tapping went smoothly with no out of misalignment issues. I was proud of myself when i dropped pumpkin into the axle housing. Fit like a glove.

I used the Pumpkin as a centering jig to pilot my initial holes. See my crappy welds.

Drill it out and tap it.

Last Monday, we installed a lift kit in Dous's 4runner and i want to say we did the whole thing in less then two hours. He had OME rear springs, shocks and Front strut spacers.

I guess practice makes perfect.

Afterwards, we had modify his gas tank skid plate to clear the drive shaft though.

DANG!!!! I feel like a slacker. It took me 8 hours do do my front and rear lift.
Betcha I can do it in 7.5 next time though.

well seeing that this was brought up, how long do you think LC 8wraps and shocks would take? just those two. with a full lift?
