Well, I got 5" of lift with 7.5/8 wrap LC coils... I thought it would have been a little less. Oh well. I will be swapping these out for some OME 890's this next week because I think its too tall.

Rear took me about 2 hours by myself.... I've probably installed at least 20 lifts/suspensions on 4Runners, Tacomas, Tundras and FZJ80 Landcruisers... and its still a lot of work to stuff those freaking long 8 wraps in there.

For the rear upper shocks I just placed a 14mm deep socket on the nut, and turned the shock bodies with small channel locks to break it free. Then just used my hands. PB blasted them last week and it really helped.

Front took me probably an hour. It went really smooth, and I love my bottle jack.

First impressions of the Icon's are absolutely amazing. I have never felt the truck ride so well in the front. The rear is too springy and tippy for my tastes.

I will get my 285/75/R16 BFG KO's on Tuesday. Also I was painting my center caps if you guys are concerned about them being off and on in random photos... :)

I'm using the Tokico sport LC shocks in the rear. They looked about 3" longer extended than stocks. I am assuming they would be OK for using with the OME 890's... ? I don't think they will be too long but I donno. Opinions?
 
Looks real good there. I did the same with my 8 wraps, replaced them with 890's.

On the shocks, I would think you will be fine. But I would pick up a set of extended bump stops just in case.
 
The LC coils will settle an inch or so after they are on or a few weeks. You might want to hold on and see before you buy the OMEs.
 
The LC shocks will be too long with 890's. When running my LC shocks the 890 would fall out if completely articulated. But I don't have extended bump stops so mine might articulate a little bit more.

My 890's would fall out in this exact spot. I've got LC shocks and 7.5 wraps in this picture.............

Ha! Yeah I was looking for tires that day and since you said it might be a while I ordered some new BFG's from Discount :)

Thanks for the info on the LC shocks/OME 890 situation.

Brian, they will settle even if they are used coils?
 
Looks good! Throw some 315's on it..Will fill out the wheel wells real nice with those LC coils.
 
Looks great! I used the OME 890's on mine with Bilstein 5150 as part of a toytec ultimate lift. Running 275/70r 18 BFG AT and my truck looks like a pre runner the rear end sits so low. The rear looked awesome but after a month sank. I am only carrying maybe 100lbs in the back. Just a heads up on how low the rear can sit with the 890's.
 
Oh and very envious on the Icons!! Wish I knew more when I bought mine a few months back! I would have ponied up the extra! Good stuff!! Congrats!
 
I am done with 315's! This is my DD so I sort of want some mileage :)

I had the 890's on another 4runner about 5 years ago but I can't remember what they felt like. I sort of remember them being pretty stiff... Which I would like because the last FZJ80 coils I had seemed to sag a lot under load. I had the 9 wrap coils, which I heard are actually a less spring rate than the 8 wraps.... Thought these 8 wraps would be right up my ally, but yeahhhhhhhhhh... Whew they are still tall. :)

I am somewhat frustrated because I can't figure out what to change mine to....but hate how much it sags already! Good luck figuring yours out. I will say though...that they ride amazing! Million times better than stock set up I had!
 
Nice! We have similarly built runners. I wish I had Icons though! My dad's runner is on the 890 and LC Shock setup. Haven't had any issues of the coil falling out.
 
Hey guys, I know you guys are running different size tires, but I just measured the rear fender height and I am at 40"... seems awfully tall?

I will drive it around for the next few days and see if they settle. I think they've come down about an inch after driving.
 
Well its still pretty high back there. I sort of like it, but I'd rather be lower.

I bought some OME 890's and some OME shocks this afternoon.

After having a sky high 3rd gen with 35's, I'm savoring the feeling of not wanting to tip on the trail, and having good road manners... ;)

So I will be selling these coils and shocks soon. Im thinking $150 shipped.

Mine measures 41.250" with 255's. You can drop the rear a little by removing the center "cone" bump stop. There's a big difference in articulation between the 890 and LC coils / shocks. The 890's articulate pretty well, but don't compare to the LC's with a longer shock.
 
Yeah that's the only reason I want to keep the LC coils. I loved my last set because of the amount of articulation the rear end had. I am scared that the 890's will be all rough feeling...

Yes, I do have the cone bump stops still in there... hmmm...
