Installed: Rola low-profile mounts on 5th Gen

I just got one of these baskets for my wife's 2016 4runner. Does the low pro mounting kit: 03-20 4Runner Rola Rack Mount Kit come with all the hardware needed to mount it to the OEM rack? Does it come with t slot nuts and bolts to attach the L brackets to inside of the OEM rack? By the time I put together my own kit i'm more than half way to cost of the 4x kit and the 4x kit comes with stainless ubolts. The HD ubolts are zinc plated.

Yes, it comes with all hardware to mount the Rola basket to the OEM side rails. All you will have to do is assemble the Rola rack (use silicone on the joint and dab them on screws for peace of mind) and then bolt it up using the 4x kit.

After having trouble finding whether or not 4x Innovations low-profile Rola mounting hardware would work on a 5th Gen (flipped upside-down), I finally got the info I needed from [MENTION=152258]Toytrpr[/MENTION] that it would work. Bit the bullet on the rack ($143 shipped from AutoAnything), and finally got it mounted today.

As per many previous reports, it needed some touch-up work for holes in the (crappy) welds, so I sealed those up with some black gasket sealant. When joining the two sections, I used ample sealant on all male/female surfaces, as the 'stock' fit is pretty loose. Sealed all the screw holes as well, and vinyl-wrapped the fairing (satin black) to get rid of the logo and glossy plexiglass. The powder-coating wasn't as bad as I expected, but we'll see how it holds up. Made the mistake of clear-coating due to the flat black paint touch-up I did; although it looks good on the paint, it will scrape right off the powder coat.

I'm very happy with the mounts (not cheap, though); well designed product, and very burly. Brackets and all hardware are stainless. Flipped upside-down, it puts the rack a good 1 to 1.5" below where it would have mounted using the included brackets attached to OEM crossbars, and only about maybe 1-1/4" above the traditional low-mount as designed for the 4th Gen 4Runners.

Mounting was pretty straightforward, just had to decide where I wanted the rear compared to the shark fin. Decided to mount the rear bar behind it, keeping the basket closer to the rear for loading, and further from the sunroof (for noise).

For my modest uses it's going to work well, and glad I saved the $800+ on a 'real' rack. I'm out $221.

Can you give me the measurements of one of the L brackets? looks like the side that bolts to the rail is 1in and the side that holds the ubolt is 2in maybe? Also, anyone know what size ubolts come with the kit?

Sorry if this has been asked before but does these low-profile mounts improve the wind noise?

I have a rota rack that I remove when not in use but would like to leave it on full time if wind noise is minimal.

Lead time on these are 4-6 weeks though:nono:

Old thread, but how are these racks holding up? 169.00 at Amazon but another 105.00 for the extension!

For those that are interested in buying the rack, there is a seller on EBay that has them for $99.99 but you pay shipping. Seller is tinavontease. They do have local pick-up. Business is in PA.

For me, it was less than $150.00 shipped.

They sell the extension too, but their package for both makes the extension come out to $140 and the shipping really jumps up.

All that said, buy the rack from EBay and the extension from Amazon for the least expensive combo.

I am waiting to buy an extension. Don't think I will need it.

BTW, The rack is now $236.00 on Amazon. It WAS $169 two weeks ago. The extension is $105.00
