hari-bhari,

I am in the same boat as you are. I have found this here on Yotatech. Should give you a good start. Just be careful when pulling the trim panel off. Some cars and trucks can be tough. My older Toyota truck was pretty easy just time consuming. I like the way toyota has there Radios set up though. Makes it harder for theifs!!

Good luck man.

excellent. thank you very, very much for that. the one question i have is this: the car doesnt have 4x4 and doesnt have that extra level. will the removal still be the same?

I would think so. I saw another write up some place else also. I will post it when I get home tonight since it is saved in my favorites.

I have a 2002 SR5 and everything was snap-off. Since you have a 99, I figured it would be similar to mine.

Here's what I did:

Lift the armrest in center console.
Pull the housing from around the handbrake which included the cup holders. (mine was just a black piece that ran from above the handbrake down to the cup holder area)
Then pull out the piece around the shift knob.
Then remove the dash area around the headunit. (easier to snap off from the bottom up)

Hope this helps
