Installing Spartan locker tomorrow, Tips?

Hey guys, tomorrow Michael833 and I will be installing a rear spartan locker in my truck. I've seen a few people with Aussies in theirs and the Spartan is nearly identical to the Aussie. So to get to the point, anybody out there have any good tips? Reviews? Oh and if anybody in the area wants to stop by, let me know. Thanks.

The locker is now installed! Here is the on road use video.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it when you do get it installed. I'd like to hear what you think about it both on and offroad as I may be looking into this option for myself. Good luck with the install!
 
The install is way easy, you'll see once you get in there. The only tips I could give you is don't forget baggies and rubber bands to contain the brake fluid, and it's a great time to do your rear axle seals. :)
 
I have no idea about the Spartan's directions, but the Aussie directions were pretty easy to follow. If you've never been inside your diff, you might want to take a look at some of these builds just to familiarize yourself with all the bits and pieces:

On the subject of brake fluid, am I going to have to bleed and refill the brake fluid system or just clamp the hoses off and re attach after?

It would be advisable to bleed the brakes when you're done. Really, anytime you unhook brake lines it's always good to do it. My trick is I put a large rectangular level between the frame of the seat and brake pedal. Then, move it forward. Of course mine are powered, but you get the gist. Take out the the fuse for the brake lights and vuala, no more brake fluid dripping out.

Alright the install is done, took us 12 hours including a two hour trip to get food and a gasket. The 4runner fought every step of the way. The biggest ***** was re installing the 3rd member. There was just to little space to lift 60 pounds up even with three people. Somehow we got it in and did the "test". Out on the road it's doing exactly what it's supposed to. Clicking around corners and all that. I have yet to take it off road, Stay tuned.
 
CONGRATS! I don't know why you needed 3 people but oh well, at least you got it lol. You think that was hard, try pulling/installing the front diff! You'll wanna shoot someone after it...

Well it was really just me and Michael333 but my dad stepped in to help lift the 3rd member. If we had a real lift it would have been a lot easier, but with jack stands there's just no room! If every bolt wasn't stuck and in need of pb blaster it would have been much quicker!
 
Dude! Can you please post a video showing how loud it is around corners? I'm thinking about buying the same locker. Also, some more driving impressions would be awesome.

x2!! This is my DD and will be for a long time, so onroad manners is important.
 
That clank was certainly puzzling.

Great video demonstrating the on road use of this style locker. Now folks can really hear what ratcheting sounds like.

Hopefully we get to see the off-road video soon :D

Thanks and I hope I can get off road soon!

More on the on road use: Coming out of a turn it kind of feels like it wants to steer itself, doesn't really bother me. Ratcheting around corners is not a problem, I listen to music so I can't hear it much.
