Recently acquired 1990 4Runner, SR5, 4WD, 3.0 V6, manual shift, 340K miles. Has been very well kept, but there are a lot of little things I am fixing up. The plastic piece that surrounds the door lock button is missing on the driver's door. I have the replacement part, but how to install it so it stays in place? Nobody (not even the local dealership) seems to know. The Haynes manual doesn't deal with body stuff, and I don't have a factory manual.
I can provide photos if necessary, but I suppose this is a pretty standard item and it's just my ignorance that is frustrating me <G>.
It must not be glued in place, because the other three, while firmly fixed in their respective doors, can be slid around a few fractions of a millimeter. There's nothing that looks like a latch or catch to be pressed into place. I have to suppose there's some perfectly simple trick I just haven't thought of.
EDIT 3/21 18:07: The FSM (which I just downloaded from the archive site) doesn't have the answer either!
Thanks for enlightenment!
