Instrument Lights

Hi, I'm new to this forum, however I've owned an 01' four runner for 3 1/2 yrs. Excuse me if this question has been asked before as I've done little searching on the site.

Anyway, two lights on the instrument panel just went out. These are the fan and the vent selection lights. Both went out last week. Wondering if it's a fuse or simply a matter of replacing the two bulbs. If it's a fuse, wondering where it's located.

Thanks, David

any tutorial ? how hard / PITA was it ? lol

Not too bad imo, just a lot of little stuff. You have to disconnect the hood and gas door release cables which each have two screws securing them, then remove the 4 bolts, 10 mm I think, holding the lower finish panel on. My finish panel has the interior temp. sensor connected to it, so that comes off as well. Disconnecting the rear diff lock switch is next, if equipped, then the dimmer switch. The dimmer switch can be disconnected from the back and left on the trim panel, or disassembled from the front and pushed out the back to remove it from the upper trim panel. The upper trim panel has 2 screws at the top that need to come out and 2 at the bottom (I think it's just 2 at the bottom). The key ring bezel pops off before removing the upper trim. You will have to finesse the upper trim panel completely off since the steering column cover gets in the way. Finally you will have 4 screws to remove the instrument cluster and then disconnect all the wiring harnesses, 4 I think. The back cover of the instrument cluster is unscrewed and then you should be looking at the circuit board with all the twist lock bulb bases. This is all by memory btw, but someone will probably give you a link with a good write up to cancel out this lengthy post. Good Luck!
