Intake issue: Replace or upgrade?

I was changing my spark plugs today, and when took off the intake it cracked on the engine side. the crack happened basically where the clamp rests, but extended past the clamp towards the air box enough that you could see inside the intake tube.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures, but i hope that paints the picture well enough.

Currently I wrapped the hell out of it with electrical tape to seal it. The dealership is the only place that has a new tube, everyone else sells the entire intake system.

so my question is do i spend $106.00 for a new intake tube, or should I just upgrade to a CAI and replace it that way?

where are you? i have a 97runner with a K&N CAI that i want to trade for a stock setup... if you are close to Vancouver WA id be down for a swap... just sayin

I am in Denver.

I am going to MOAB this weekend so I would need to order these parts tonight or first thing tomorrow morning... if I am doing a CAI I think I would want to get them new

That sucks. Similar thing happened to me this week. Saw that the mount on the air box is cracked with a small opening after the air filter.

I got some black silicone and smeared it on the outside of the box along the cracks. Looks good to go.

OEM air intake.

I have a complete OEM intake pipe (w/strange boxes) I bought from a part out, to replace a non stock pipe on mine. When I tried to fit it, relaized the ARB compressor is mounted in an area that the OEM pipe would need. Ended up fabbing a non oem soution. I'll let you have it for what I have in it, $32 shipped.
thanks Josh

Im gonna get a CAI.... tried to epoxy the crack this afternoon, and the epoxy then cracked when i reinstalled it....
