intake quesition!!

if i wanted to get any type of intake for my 4g 4runner, would that void any type of warrantee that the car may have? i just got the car a week ago so i dont want to mess around with anything on it without knowing...

Depends on who installs it and if they will maintain the warranty coverage with the new intake. If Toyota installs it, you have a good chance that they will continue the warranty. If someone else installs it, and you have an engine failure, they can claim that the intake caused the problem and void that area of your warranty (this would not apply to the transmission, body, diffs, interior, etc). The law states they have to prove that the modification caused the failure, but they can also make you pay up front for this repair and reimburse you later if they find a manufacturing defect unrelated to the modification that caused the failure.

Most intakes will not void warrany. K&N for example has that written on the box and if it does void for some reason, they will pay for the repairs. At least that's what they claimed a few years ago, not sure if their policy has changed.

Your best bet is to install the high performance TRD drop-in. It replaces the OEM filter and there will be no warrantee issues. You will not feel any gain but for $50 you have a safe lifetime filter that breaths a little better then stock, with no modifications. You can put in the fancy/expensive systems (K&N, Volant, etc) but I personally don

I had the K&N aircharger on mine for a while. It really gave no gains, i actually think it felt a bit weaker in the low end. When i took it out i noticed at had a bit more kick than it had with it in. The sound was cool but i got tired of it. I wouldnt bother.
