Intelligent Tester

Hi all, trying to figure what scanner or software I can use to actuate the master cylinder solenoid to bleed air. The instructions for bleeding (attached) say to use an intelligent tester and go to “ACTIVE TEST” and then select “SRMF & SRMR”. I am not sure what brands are reliable and also reasonably priced. Alternatively, not sure if there’s an iPhone app or desktop software that can do this. I briefly read about the Techstream Lite software that supposedly you can pay for per day, but looking for a solution without a time constraint that doesn’t cost a zillion dollars. Any ideas?

You're trying to activate all the ABS solenoids and I think that intelligent tester is a special service tool from Toyota. If there is an aftermarket one, I'd love to know but I just take it to the dealer and make absolutely sure they are flushing the ABS and not just the brake lines. Cost me right at $100 every few years but if anyone has priced the master cylinder assembly ($1227!!!), it's money well spent.

Hi, I’ve been looking and looking for an aftermarket tester that will perform this function and I *think* I found one. I have an email out to the company to confirm it’s the same function. The tester is the Innova CarScan Tech 5510. It has an “ABS Bleed” function that is compatible with Toyota/Lexus. Do you think it will work??

It says it does ABS bleeding but not 100% sure what they consider ABS bleeding. I'm a bit skeptical because it cannot do the zero angle reset on the steering yaw which I've had to do a couple of times with the paper clip routine whereas the dealer has a special service tool that does it and might even be the same tool that cycles the ABS solenoids.

Be interesting to see what the company responds.
