The convenient thing is they provide a free loaner car while they work on your car/suv. Just pay for whatever gas you used. I think they may be the only shop I trust to get it done right the first time since they already have experience installing the headers.

nice, are you saying that they quoted you that price having done the header install on a v8 4runner before?
Edit... I just re-read your post. I though you were saying 500 total but, it's $500 + $150-200 each side. Ok, that makes more sense.

Any one in the Denver area suggest a exhaust shop/Toyota shop that will do this work? I just got a quote from one, and it was $1,650 for installation and weld to stock cats/stock y pipe. I'd like to keep it at around $1,200 if possible...
So if anyone knows where to get exhaust studs and bolts let me know. I went to the dealer and they wanted $100 for them all. The studs were $4 a piece and the nuts $1. I know dealers are going to be a little more expensive but that is ludicrous. I was thinking around $60 max.
My shop got the from a local auto parts store that has a machine shop too.
They're just an m10x1.25 stud. 40 or so mm in length.

That's a set of 10, so .89 a piece.
Aren't you supposed to use a special kind of stud to withstand the heat? Now that I think about it some more, I dont know where I got that from. I think I just got that into my head at some point and went with is.

I'm about to have the shop install these headers. Since I'm spending the money to install the headers I want to replace the cats as well.
What catalytic converter have you guys been using?

I've been selling the magnaflow universal cat to people with these and that's been working. Did you need 2 or 3?

just a thought for anyone going the DIY route... You may want to consider removing the steering shaft when installing the dr. side. It should only be a few bolts and should come out without too much effort. It' it's rusted to hell like mine, it's a good time to go ahead and replace it. It will be one less thing in your way. :thumb:
edit... removing the UCAs form where they attach to the frame would also help a lot... and obviously the brake line brackets.

Had my headers installed with a true dual exhaust and a dual-in and dual-out super 50 Magnaflow exhaust. I had the shop only keep the two cats on the headers, and remove the third.
Thing sounds like a MONSTER but isn't overbearing. Little amount of drone but not much. The owner of the muffler shop where I had the work done told me it was the nicest sound he's heard from a Toyota. Dude on the freeway (during rush hour traffic) even told me randomly it was the nicest Toyota he's heard. That's when you know you have something special. :rockon::rockon::rockon::rockon:

Just pulled the trigger on these w/2 cats-will be nice to have an almost permanent solution to the manifold problem. Has anyone located flanges to weld on to the bottom of the cats or are the exhaust shops fabbing them up for everyone?
Also, does anyone know a good exhaust installer/welder in northern NJ? My plan, if I can find flanges already welded on to a short length of pipe, is to install everything with band clamps and then drive to a welder to have the job completed.

Any luck in locating the lower flange? I am thinking of doing the same thing with the stock y pipe for now.
