Interest in East Coast Lift Party?

I just put my spacers on my front a few weeks ago, and I had a buddy of mine who's a professional mechanic do it for me, (I got to help :D ). He used a pretty damn large spring compressing machine he rolled out of the back room to disassemble the coil assembly, and I gotta tell ya, even then the whole ordeal was pretty shady. Even he (the aforementioned 40 year vet mechanic) said that compressing coils is always a shady deal, he's seen to many fly across shops. Not to say you couldn't do it in a shadetree garage, many people do, but imo i'd rather take them to someone and have them do it in as a controlled environment as possible.

Don't know how a T4R's springs compare to other vehicles, but from what I saw they carry one hell of a load when under pressure.

So I got anxious once my Tundra stuff got here and went ahead and threw em in. I rented the spring compressor but couldn't get em tight enough. I took them to Meineke and they charged me twenty bucks per strut. Oh well. Getting the old struts out and the new ones in myself wasn't too tough though. My LC springs got here today so I'm going put the LC springs and shocks in the rear on Monday.

I'd like to get involved in this. I'm literally a stone's throw outside of Philly. (NW corner of it) So I'm about an hour and half away from you. (assuming that Durk is hosting)

However, I'm getting married, again, on March 26th. Probably couldn't do this till late April or early May.

I have a 99 "Highlander" but it was some rear sag so I'm thinking either OME springs in the rear or spacers. Needs shocks too, thinking about Bilstein HD's. I probably won't off road it much but I can't ever leave any of my cars alone.

I'm a decent wrench but also never worked on a T4R yet. I did lift two of my Jeeps though with a friend's help. I'm happy to lend anyone a hand and bring some hydration with me too. Let me know what the date winds up being.

Durk, do you still plan on hosting any type of lift party still? I'm all ready for my panhard drop and new coils to be installed.

I'm still willing to do it--but at the moment I think you are the only one who seems to need something done right now. I do have some commitments coming up (girlfriend surgery, son's move). LINY is willing to help, but doesn't need anything done and catalina did his already. So I don't really know. Maybe I should just wait until the pool's open and have a barbecue/beer fest..

No, I need to do a little work too. And ironically I need Kelly to sell me his rear springs to finish my planned lift. I just bought Bilstien HD's last night. Going to run my factory tall springs in the front and Kelly's 906's in the rear.

I'm always up for gettin dirty! That sounded bad...

I've changed out the suspension in my truck more than I wish I had to, so I've got it down to a science now haha

Let's get this goin!

I'm curious to see that done and certainly willing to help; I still have my factory springs (tall '99's as well) on new Trekmasters and the 906 in the rear approach might be an affordable upgrade as well as relatively easy to do. There is no sag unloaded but with weight she starts to sit down. the 4-bike hitch Thule rack does not help. Wheeler's has the 906's for $157 so even new it's not the end of the world.

As I said I'm open to host, but next weekend (GF surgery) and the second half of April (not sure when Jr. is moving but has to be before May 1) are out for me. April 2-3 or 9-10 look good.

So it sounds like at least 2 people need some work done? Me and Pitbull, maybe more? Bryan -- nice of you to offer to help. April 2-3 could work for me. I'll keep checking back here

This past weekend has got me thinking about lifts HARD.

Everyone raves about the Overland Warehouse (Radflo) suspensions on the 4th/5th Gen Forum...

Because this rig still needs to be my daily driver and seemed to be very capable out of the box, I'm also just thinking about front leveling kit, a set of 285's, and some skids to hold me over...

Thoughts from you experienced guys?

If it can wait until the weekend of the 2 I can give you a hand, I know another guy that needs to use a spring compressor so we could knock it all out at once. I didn't read all of the responses in this thread but the panhard drop is gonna have to be welded on so someone will have to have access to a welder which I have a couple at my disposal so we could knock your sliders out, too. The shop is in Exton PA if you want to look up how far it is for you, all the tools we would need, climate controlled and 10 lifts in the main shop. I'm just throwing out options, not trying to step on anyones toes..

Edit: I have to make sure the shop isnt being used that day but I'll post back.

Don't worry about my toes, looks like you have a better facility and a better location.

Dude your truck did amazing for what it was! Good start on the sliders, definitely the best thing to start with. I'd look into a small lift with 31" Toyo or BFG AT's and some skids- with the locker and all the other TE goodies you'll be good to go!

Thanks for the advice Bryan - I think based on that I'll get the Bilstein 5100's to level it out and get a nicer ride out of it and either go with 285/70/17s or 305/65/17s....I'm pretty fortunate that 33's will fit on only a leveled 5th Gen...my stock tires are 31s...just in ****ty highway form, lol

go with the 285's- skinny tire is better

Well you can add me to the list of people who need stuff installed! Picked up Bilstein 5100's, front and rear.

I'm not sure if people are still thinking of trying this weekend but I don't think my stuff will arrive in time...maybe a weekend in April that works for everyone?

I still need those 883's and 8 wraps and panhard drop installed over here, so count me in too. And another member on here mentioned he wanted my 906's as soon as they're out of the truck, I think he's coming too? Zach, let us know when the best weekend in April is for you.

EDIT: Zach, you wouldn't happen to have a tire machine too would you? With weights and everything? :D

Kelly, I definitely still need your 906's. Either place (Zach's or Durk's) is fine with me too. I'm in Mexico right now, be back on Thursday so I can make either of the mentioned weekends work too.

I'm in- I dont have the parts yet, but Id like to learn how to do it.. Kelly what are you doing with the old suspension?
