Interior Carpet Replacement???

Anyone found a good shop that sells aftermarket carpet/padding to replace the factory set up? After 170K miles...time to upgrade it which I am told the padding upgrade will help drown out any "drone" from a MagnaFlow exhaust.

Natevans65, I know it's been almost a month since you started this thread, but I just now purchased replacement carpet and after days of searching, the absolute cheapest place that I could find the "front floor mat" as it is awkardly called, is at OEMPARTS123.com, for $549.98 for two row models and $561.09 for 4R's with third row seating before shipping. Look under "PILLARS, ROCKERS AND FLOOR", then select "FLOOR" and you should see "CARPET"... Best deal that I have found so far!
 
Thank you for the heads up....will check it out. Seems to me there should be a less expensive option in terms of the aftermarket world. Oh well....
 
you can always just find a 4Runner at a wrecking yard and pull the carpet. I have 145k miles on our latest 4Runner. The carpets weren't soiled so much as they were dirty from wheeling in red dirt deseret areas. I found a carpet out of a low miles garage queen that was very clean, $50 bucks and about thirty minutes to install. The only issue is the oem carpet is installed before the cables are installed in the center console area. THere is a small strip of carpet that goes under the cables. i just cut that strip on the old for removal and on the new one for install. It is under the center console so you will never see it. Worked really well. I know of a carpet set on another 4Runner here in San Diego, it is in a wrecked 2006, really clean, cleaner than mine. Unfortunately, I had already installed mine when I saw this one. Good luck. Phil

This is an old thread, but for the record, I do not think that Toyota has yet released the pattern for interior carpet to aftermarket companies. Thus, you are left only able to purchase OEM carpet at this time (which is insanely expensive), unless something has changed in the past couple of months.

Like I said, when I did my research a year or so ago, I was told by a couple of companies that Toyota HAS NO RELEASED THE PATTERN to aftermarket companies for production, as of yet. I have no idea why. I just bit the bullet and dropped around $500.00-$600.00. I'm glad I did it. Now, I have to tackle the cracked dash.
 
I pulled my carpet, doused it with a cleaning solution, scrubbed with a push broom, rinse, repeat. Then I let it sit out in the sun for a couple of days to dry out. Afterwards I covered the carpet in baking soda. Let it sit like that for a few days. Vacuumed up the baking soda. Next I bought carpet pad from lowes ($7 worth was just enough - it's cheap enough you might as well buy a little more than you need just in case), I removed the old carpet pad and used it as a template to cut new carpet pad. I used 3M adhesive spray to glue the new pad onto the carpet. Then I reinstalled the carpet. Carpet looks new. Total cost to me was about $15 (pad, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar) and about 6 hours of my life.

I'm about to pull all of my carpet out and see about linex'ing the tub. I've been through all the threads discussing this but haven't found a picture of anyone with it. I'll throw up some pics in my build thread soon.

Unfortunately there are a ton of wires and plastic vents. I recall someone posting pics about a year ago.

I've thought about doing the same thing, but as was pointed out you'd have to tuck the wiring aside. Its doable I guess if you get nice conduit and tuck it against the edges and such, but still a pain.
 
I am retarded with vehicle interiors. I got my 4runner used and the carpets are destroyed. Also have the cracked dash. The dash project will hopefully be done by next week. For the carpets why can't I just acquire a piece of carpet from Home Depot and cut it to fit, using the old one as a template? I know there is foam and padding underneath to help with insulation but is the carpet special?

The problem is where all the bends & corners are. Home depot carpet isn't made to do that. Thus it will probably end up looking like crap.

Put some tear down pics and problems in my build thread if you want to throw some advice my way.
