interior lighting

So after trying to figure out how to turn on the front interior light when you open the door I finlly looked in the book and apparently you can't set this to come on when you open the door??? I was really hoping that toyota had come a little farther with there lighting then on my 88 pickup but I guess not the dome light and tiny door lights really do almost nothing and why the hell isn't there a light in the back for when you open the liftgate, am I just missing something here

I thought I was missing a setting too, but nope .. the front two map lights are just that, map lights, and don't function as dome lights.

Only the middle and rear dome lights (why don't you have one?) have the function to turn on with opening the door. Swapped all the interior bulbs to LED's. Makes it a bit more visible in the morning/night time.

maybe it is just not working but I looked around a little and did not see any light in the rear compartment.

Rear dome light is dead center in the ceiling, a few feet behind the center dome. Should be right there when you open the hatch.

I found the rear light right at the back wow what a p.o.s. it does almost nothing at night you have got to be kidding me!!! I will be modding in new lights I saw some pics of the leds they arent much better.

Here's a link to what I bought. I've had them a year and a half or so and they don't make the exact thing anymore, but it should at least give you a place to start. I've been extremely happy with how they turned out.

EDIT: I should note. I would have preferred a whiter color. Mine are 10,000K and look bluish. But, at the time, it was all I could find the right size and that bright.
