interior lights question

bear with me- I'm a first time Toyota owner - this one kinda has me stumped

At night when I open any door, shouldn't some interior light come on ?

I made sure the dimmer switch was adjusted, (but it seems that only adjusts the dash lights)

I have two lights next to the power sunroof switch- If I press them, they both come on = press again, they go off

even when I open the rear doors, or the back door - no interior lights come on

I hate to ask- but what am I doing wrong ?

just make sure your overhead light and rear light in the head liners are set to "DOOR" then the two overhead lights should come on when you ope the doors. If that doesn't work check the bulbs or fuse

the switches are on the lights. the dome lamp by the windshield doesnt come on with the door but the two rear domes do.

You have a dome light & rear dome light, they both have independant switches right on them.

ON > OFF > DOOR

DOOR will turn on the domelights when you unlock your vehicle.

The lights next to your moonroof switch are call Maplights, and they do not turn on when you unlock your vehicle...UNLESS you modify them.

Dealer got me a copy of the Owners manual, so I won't have to ask such questions again -LOL-

:ybrick:

I didn't think to look above the passenger seat for lights -found the switch- (it was in the off position) - moved it to "door" and everything works just fine

Appreciate the responses

THANKS
