Hey All !!...just want to pass something along...last month I had the airbag recall done and after that it seemed like my key FOB was intermittently inop.I was going to bring the 2016 4 Runner back this morning to the dealership and they were going to see if a possible bad connection in the dash that was the cause from the recall. I had installed the new battery pack a few days after I had the recall done.When I was cleaning out all my stuff out of the center console compartment before I headed to the dealership I noticed the blue charge light visible on the 12 volt adapter with the key out...MMMM ??...I never noticed that before...I removed the cell phone battery pack and the adapter and the FOB started to work...plugged it in...no work !!..this battery pack was purchased at Costco and it's a Ubiolabs model PWB1071..I was showing 5.0 volts on the 12 volt adapter when it was removed from the car and the charge light was lit..I'm guessing there is a Zener diode (maybe an electronics guy can chime in) and it was letting 5 volts into the cars electrical system with the key removed. I bought a new battery pack and NO charging light was visible when the ignition was shut off...SUCCESS !!...I'll have to get the wiring schematic and check the CAN Bus with my scope and see what's going on that's preventing communication between the main body ECU and the remote receiver I think they call it near the left rear wheel well !!
EDIT: I plugged that bad cell phone into my 2001 Corvette and NO issues with that KEY FOB !!...MMM ???
