Intro to cutting and welding steel day – Saturday November 19 2016

A few of you have shown interest in how to cut and weld steel. While I am not a teacher or anything like that I thought I would offer up a day to hang out in my garage and play with a few of the more advanced tools that you would like to check out, see how they work, do some cutting and welding for yourself.

I have a 5 gallon bucket of scrap steel cutoffs of various thicknesses so you can try cutting it up and welding it back together. I also have some copper scrap if anyone is interested into learning how to solder water pipes for home improvement.

The tools I think you would like to try out:
Drill Press
18V cordless tools – drill – impact – grinder/cutoff wheels – Impact guns
220V MIG welder
Plasma cutter
Propane torch

Oh man! I would love to do this if schedule permits. I want to make brackets and front legs for the rola rack. As well as a rear CB/Ham antenna. Also front/rear steel bumper...might be to ambitious! LOL! But this is great Chris!

[MENTION=128995]TK-422[/MENTION] please make it an all day thing so I can make it! I have 20' of 1/4" OD 316SS you guys can use. I cut them into (4) 5' pieces and deburred them already.

It sounds good so far. I just have a 2 car garage so we could do some wrenching. Building some brackets and such is totally doable but front and rear bumpers, it's a build day not a build week.

I will keep it open for the day and into the evening if we are still working on stuff. If the amount of people stays low we can get a lot more done.

I need to find a way to make this event. I REALLY want to add a plasma cutter to tool cabinet and it would be great to try one out ahead of time. I need a more efficient way to cut plate.

I would like to keep it at 10 people or less just so there is more time for me to help those that have never welded before or how to use the other tools. If some want to come in the morning and others later in the day we can add more.

If you can't make it on this day I will consider doing it again at a later date. We will see how the first one goes and take it from there.

If the weather is good and anyone wants to hang out after dark we can throw up the projection screen out back and watch a movie.

If you would like to bring food or drink please do. I will order from Rattlers BBQ so we will have some nice tri-tip, chicken and the fixings but any other food and drinks will be great.
