A few of you have shown interest in how to cut and weld steel. While I am not a teacher or anything like that I thought I would offer up a day to hang out in my garage and play with a few of the more advanced tools that you would like to check out, see how they work, do some cutting and welding for yourself.

I have a 5 gallon bucket of scrap steel cutoffs of various thicknesses so you can try cutting it up and welding it back together. I also have some copper scrap if anyone is interested into learning how to solder water pipes for home improvement.

The tools I think you would like to try out:
Drill Press
18V cordless tools – drill – impact – grinder/cutoff wheels – Impact guns
220V MIG welder
Plasma cutter
Propane torch

Hey Chris, I am good to go for the 19th. I'll bring some beer. So last week I've acquired some carnage while wheeling and need to "fix" my front steel bumper as well as my front cross member which was bent when a rock bashed in my stock skidplate.

It sounds good so far. I just have a 2 car garage so we could do some wrenching. Building some brackets and such is totally doable but front and rear bumpers, it's a build day not a build week.

I will keep it open for the day and into the evening if we are still working on stuff. If the amount of people stays low we can get a lot more done.

Hey Chris do you have a shop press? I was trying to pound out my front bumper yesturday and was able to only get some of the dents out.

I ended up cutting it out and welding a new bar in place

I sell abrasives, Ill try and make it and bring some cutters and grinding wheels if not Ill give some to someone to bring. Pay it forward. What tools do you have 3" pneumatic panel cutter or a 4 1/2" grinder? what size is the arbor???

My factory skid was so mangled i just tossed it. I had to replace my radiator and ended up damaging my CBI front bumper. Thats the part im trying to repair by pounding it back and hopefully a press.

one of my buddies just pounded out a arb for me
idk how bad yours is, but he used a come along and sludge hammer and it came back out pretty good

That is generous of you. I have a Dewalt cordless 4 1/2" grinder with 7/8"" arbor. I also have a 3" pneumatic but I don't use it much since it's noisy and uses a lot of air.

I got everything in to do the taco whip mod! I'm coming in the middle of the day and will be joining to play with fire and metal and install the taco whip too. I'll bring some sweets/a dessert :hungry:
