Introducing myself

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I had an 04 4runner that I sold about a month ago. I had my mind made to buy me a 5th gen.

I settle on this 2014 Trail Edition last weekend. I love this thing! Hoping to do the Toytec lift with the bilstein shocks eventually and get some new wheels and tires. There will be some small things here ans there as well!

Yesterday I was playing in some snow drifts out in my backyard.

This is why modding the 4runner will be a slow process. This is my 06 evo, keeps me busy during the racing season. Pushing for 9s in the 1/4 this year. Ive ran a best of 10.2 @ 126 so far.

That car needs to be on a race track. Drag racing is boring.

If there were more road race tracks closer, I would definitely be on the track lol. A buddy and I have looked more into road racing. I have done some Autox with the car as well.

There are 1/4 tracks close around that I hit events within two hrs from home, so I just went that way for now. :)

Only a person who has never had a fast car would say this....

Only 126mph at 10.20s? That's about 2-3mph low...are you running out of boost up top?

Yea...the car has trapped 138 before. I ran out of gear on the 10.2 pass. The gearing in the evo 9 is so short. Ive got a stroker motor in the car too, so im only revving to about 8300. I have a new trans im putting in the weekend with longer gear from the evo 8. So I will finish in the top of 4th trapping mid 140s im assuming. My 1/8 mile was a 6.7 @108, then I ran out at the top of 4th and just coasted, as shifting to 5th prolly wouldnt have done much good.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I predict the OP's next post to be about how sluggish the 4runner is!

:bolt:

Hahaha, the 4runner is a bit slow compare to the evo.

Im questioning whether the 4runner can tow the beast to the events that are a 2hr drive?? lol

Depends how much weight you've shed out of it. I debated if I could tow my Camaro on an open trailer and just the Camaro alone is over the 4700lb limit.

No fast cars? I've had two track preppred Subaru Sti race cars, 1 Evo MR, and BMW 335 Dinan stage 2, along with a few other less impressive cars.

My point is that although speed in a straight line is fun, road racing will get plenty more smiles and many more skills to master. With an incredible platform like an Evo, you must do some driving events and see what an amazing experience it is. You will have several points on a track where you can practice your quick shifting and straight line speed runs, followed by turns that you make you brake because you can't carry 120mph plus speeds around tight corners.

Cheers. Love the Evo.
