Koz, you kill me with your lack of knowledge and fanboyism!
Let's talk:
- Actually, despite being just apple only, the app store is bigger with much wider selection for any given topic. Why do i want apps from an UNKNOWN developer somewhere in China trying to rip me off??? Why would i put myself at risk? Oh yeah, that's right, Android has major security issues with these unknown apps...hell, they just recently clean house in the Market for viral apps (yes, within Market!). From all my years on Android, i have NEVER needed an app outside that of Market because it is too risky.
- Nickel and dime? Sorry, i rather pay for QUALITY than get "free" viral apps that take my information to China black market!!
- MicroUSB...yeah, that is why your laptop keeps searching for "driver" whenever you insert your phone...and how long does your phone charge? Crap, with USB to my laptop, my Nexus phone takes FOREVER to charge!
- Has your original Li-ion battery gone bad, Koz? No. Why would i need another battery on an average day when my phone can last?? No, this is an "Android" problem, not Apple...certainly not iPhone 5!
You know what is interesting? When an Android maker found a way to make a battery last the whole day, what does he do?? That's right, he makes the battery fully integrated and not removable. That phone is called Razr MAXX. Strange isn't it? So, what on earth is the purpose of a removable battery?: That's right...only for TWO reasons: ****ty battery life and the need to reboot the damn thing regularly!
As have been said in the past by Moto & Nokia: Embedded battery makes the phone "seamless," "extremely rigid," and "free from split lines that disrupt the feel in hand and the visual purity of the design." Engineers can use batteries in shapes, sizes, and configurations that deliver the requisite charge but are impractical to remove. That, in turn, can allow the industrial designer to create phones with creative contours. Embedded batteries are also harder to lose and less likely to sustain damage, since there's usually no door to pop off when you drop the phone. More than that, sealing the back cover means you're protecting the internals from the elements, which could make the phone more rugged.
BTW, the three phones that can last a whole day has no removable battery: iPhone 5, Moto RAZR MAXX, and Nokia 900. Coincidence? Think not.
- Oh my goodness, let's not talk about the crap phonebook that Android 4.0 and 4.1 has! You can't even edit the damn contact without pushing a whole bunch of buttons (some of which hidden!!).
- And yes, iPhones can sync without iTunes for a while now, Koz...you're outdated! Talk about misinformation!
- Actually, if you care to do more reading, there is a reason why Safari is still the best browser. (I have tried them all.) Safari is the ONLY browser that uses an accelerated engine/protocol...this is why no one else can compete with it in terms of speed and smoothness.
- Barometer?! Seriously? Dude, you've been smoking too much of Samsung's crap. WTF would i need a barometer when i have weather app that gives me predictions and actual weather maps?
- Ahh, the neverending Android argument...FLASH. Hint: Flash is no more! Adobe is no longer updating FLASH...they are NO LONGER DEVELOPING IT. Why? Because it is crap...it eats battery and does NOT shut itself off even when you get out of the browser! Thus, most Android folks shut it off. FLASH is only good on laptops and desktop where there is ample power supply because it is very inefficient. HTML5 is now the preferred and standard. In fact, Android 4.1 (jellybean) and up is abandoning it. Yes, even GOOGLE is admitting that FLASH is crap!
- Limited BT? Huh? Explain. My BT version is 4.0, same as yours...and i got it before you on the 4S.
- As for back button...hint...it's either in the app if you need it...or just press the HOME button...it will take you back one step.
As for dollar short...you may want to check your ****ty resale value...no dollar lost on my end!A dollar gain maybe on my end! What's your excuse?
I’ll address some of your cool-aid induced reasons for an out dated phone before it is even sold (funny, I know this is a mistake trying to reason with isheep). The ONLY reason Apple wants such control over their products is pure and simple, to squeeze EVERY nickel and dime. This is the same reason they use proprietary components in their devices and use embedded batteries. When there is a huge demand for a product (and have millions of isheep), a company can do these things. My point was that Apple takes away the freedom of being able use someone else’s products unless you PAY! Why do you think a lot of iphones are jail-broke?
You don’t know why it takes more time to charge with a microUSB cable. I would not even consider a cell phone that uses a proprietary connection. Apple also uses a proprietary connector so it can charge all aftermarket companies when they develop a product that is connected to/used with an Apple product.
Yes I have had batteries gone bad (or lose capacity) and it is nice to have a cheap back up power source when you can’t get to a charger. BTW - I’ve had a battery gone bad in an ipod also! (my first taste of Apple’s nickel & dime philosophy). I refuse to address your delusional cool-aid induced reasoning about embedded batteries!
You can not even start a new i5 without syncing to itunes! When you need to transfer files with the i5 you need to sync them.
You have no clue how easy it is to enter a contact into the S3, do a little research!
Yes Safari is a good browser but the point is, you can not even change it. MONEY!
You talk like you know what you are talking about but I now realize you can not be thinking clearly when drinking all that cool-aid. The barometer has nothing to do with the weather. For GPS to function it must first locate a person in three-dimensional space. You need the latitude, longitude and height. The longitude and latitude can be acquired quickly but the height takes more time. To make this process quicker, a barometer is used. By getting a read on the estimated atmospheric pressure, the GPS is able to make a quick determination about how far the phone is from sea level. In cool-aid terms, it helps speed up the GPS.
I’ll make this simple, flash is still used.
You do not want to talk about operating systems and or compare the performance differences between Apple and Google’s features, especially with the new Jelly Bean. The iphone is right back trying catch up!
Do a little research on the limited use of bluetooth with the iphone and if you still need a little clarification I’ll be there for you! Lol
Your cool-aid induced idea of how a back button works is so ridiculous, it doesn’t even deserve an answer! I’ll make it simple; the back button is the most used button on a smart phone and with ONE push brings you directly back to the previous screen, period.

Oh yeah, that's right, GS3 has the horrifically outdated software (Touchwiz or something like that) that actually makes ICS like Gingerbread!! I forgot about that...my mistake! I think that Touchwiz has been pissed on by every Android lovers out there! Talking about ruining the Google experience with heavy ass crap of useless software!

Do you now iOS 5 or 6? Let's talk facts and experience here. What you have brought up are classic misconceptions...the sad part is that even when facts stare you in the face, you turn the other way to avoid being disappointed.

Well, you're right...no widgets etc...but ya know, on my Nexus i had to delete all apps and deactivate widget because ICS (4.0) killed my battery. It can barely stay alive for 6 hours of no activity.

Then why has Jellybean (4.1) abandon it? Yes, that's right...when you update your GS3 in the future, you will lose FLASH. And there is a reason for that. Google (like Apple years ago) realize that FLASH is horrible for smartphones with limited battery life...it eats battery alive! Even when you get out of the browser (in ICS), it still freaking runs!! Both my brother (in his Google Nexus, like mace) and my Nexus S 4G have suffered from this plaque, known as FLASH. We both deactivated FLASH when we were still on ICS.
HTML5 is the new standard BTW...just in case you miss my previous post.

It strikes me as odd when simple consumers with no real financial stake at hand would so passionately defend their purchase choices and derogate others in the process. I get the exchange of information to help someone make an informed decision; that is what many of do in these sorts of fora and it seems like a nice thing to do. I get that our enthusiasm for the things we enjoy can cause our reviews to smack of advocacy; we like our toys, cars, phones, and otherwise. What I don't get is putting so much effort into advertising for a corporate giant (unpaid at that) and dispensing with a significant amount of civility in the process. I don't have a particular sensitivity to anyone getting their feelings hurt here (we are mostly all grown-ups), but it really seems like it takes an Orwellian consumerate to spend so much time and effort advertising on behalf of business with ad budgets larger than some national economies. It's not that I have never owned a tee-shirt with a a sneaker logo on it, but if you we're sporting a different logo I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Wow, did not expect this much 'debate' when I started this thread, like others have said it has been educational though!
Oh, I figured I would at least follow up and say mine will be here tomorrow
It started its slow movement on the 18th, even though it is an overnight package.I guess UPS & FedEx have had people calling a lot trying to get the delivery date pushed up, so much so that they had to put it on their website and elsewhere. Does it make you that 'cool' to get it a day early, really? These reps have better things to do. Besides, all the tech people have had their hands on it for a while and written looooong reviews about it. Nothing your average joe is going to add to it.
At least I will have a phone that works! Now hopefully my otterbox will ship out soon and my zagg screen will get here, arg!

mine gets here tomorrow also, but the wife decided she wanted one also, 4 days after pre-order release. Verizon said they were 3 weeks delayed, so I am going to the verizon store at 6:30 tomorrow to sit there for 1.5 hours lol. oh well, should be an experience. had one of the reps in the store offer to save one for me for 100 bucks... haha
