Just for the record, this is my first official mod lol...Long story short, my buddy use to be a mechanic at Toyota and got this ipod interface for cheap, he never ending using it so he gave it to me. The manual says it's for 05/06's but it works fine in my 03. The unit has ipod input and aux input, I have to use the aux input because it's not compatible with newer ipods or any ipod touch. I'm happy with it, the JBL system has good enough sound for me, and i'm happy with the stock HU the only thing that bothered me was I couldn't hook my ipod up...now I can 
At the HU, #3 is the original plug, #1/#2 go to the interface unit. #3 plugs into #2 and #1 plug into the HU
Its got two sided tape on the bottom and I zip tied in down, it's pretty solid there.
It comes up as CD1 and it always says disc 6 track 1 and the time just counts up lol.
I didn't want to drill holes because i'm not gonna kept this setup forever.
