I am picking up my new 4Runner tonight and just wanted to be clear on something. If I put my ipod in the glove box and hook it up with the usb connection, I can control through the steering wheel/head unit? If i leave it in there with the car off, will it drain the car battery/ipod battery? Does it charge the ipod battery when the car is started? Basically I can put it in there and forget about it?

Yes you can control through the head unit (volume, next track, and previous track through steering wheel controls). It will not drain the car battery or ipod battery. The head unit auto-pauses the iPod. Yes, it charges when the car is started. Yes, you won't have to mess with it.
Note, there are certain iPod models that don't play nicely with the 4Runner. Consult your manual for the official list and search for threads I've started about an iPod related TSB. Certain models of iPods that don't work right and the dealer will fix it for you.

Just know that after awhile the iPod won't be able to keep a charge, but, that's just cause it's always being charged. Same thing with most electronics these days. Not that it really matters, since it's for the car. It's definitely sweet. I just use my iPhone and stream it. The folder up down button changes the artists I believe. Or at least that's what it does with a cd in there.

the streaming is awesome. You can't even tell it's steaming. It's fast too when changing songs. The only downside is the screen says "streaming audio" instead of who the artist is, etc.
Sometimes the iPhone wont connect to the car, but, thats because it might be in my pocket or something. the best thing to do is turn your radio off before you shut off the car, that way when you turn on the car later, your radio is off. Then start your car, then the phone should connect no problem. I've never had any trouble when the radio was turned off prior to starting the car.
EDIT: so what truck did you end up getting? specs!? color!?

Decided not to stress too much about it. I got (getting tonight) the SR5 4WD with the conv. package. Didn't go for the leather seats, gonna see how the cloth goes this time around. Currently I have a 2005 SR5 4WD and love it, it's just getting to the point where it is needing some work and it isn't worth it to me. I hope I don't regret the cloth seats!

Sounds good man. Lots of guys on here have the cloth and love them. I remember that one guy mentioning some seat covers, so thats always an option down the line. I'm sure you will love your new ride, congrats!
