IPod Touch ?

My son got good grade this year (straight A). I promissed him a reward present. He wanted an IPod touch.

What are the differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2? Gen 3 too expensive for an 11 yrs old kid. Is it worth the extra money to get gen 2 if you don't need diskspace?

What can you do/play with ipod touch beside music?

The second generation has a speaker. I didn't know there was a third generation. The speaker is pretty nice to have. I've used it a good bit.

You can surf the internet, download apps, etc. with the iPod Touch.

I have the 3rd Generation iTouch, it came w/ my 15" MacBook Pro i7 for free.

I don't know anything about the 1st Gen & 2nd Gen...but mine sure does come w/ a build in speaker.

Apple gives you $200 rebate back when you purchase a MBP or iMac...anywho, I opt for the 32gb and paid the extra $100

The iTouch is good for music, movies, games, internet and most importantly...apps.

I primarily use mine for music, internet and yelp*

The iTouch is on wifi only whereas the iPad can be on wifi or ATT data plan...so if you won't have to worry about him racking up ANY type of bill...EXCEPT if you have a credit card linked to iTouch and App Store, where he can purchase new apps.

Oh yeah...Costco is having a special right now.

• 8GB iTouch - $185-12 = $173
• 32GB iTouch - $280-20 = $260
• 64GB iTouch - $380-33 = $347

They give you a free 8gb iTouch with a purchase of a MBP or iMac. However, if you want the 32gb or 64gb, you just have to pay for the difference. Apple just gives you back a $200 rebate.

You are correct on the free printer too. I didn't want it, because it was an Epson, didn't want that brand nor fork out $100 first and get it returned.

An ipod touch is like an iphone without the antenna inside. You could use wifi, download apps, and play games.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will get the 8GB one at Costco. I don't think he need 32 GB yet. He is 12 yrs old.
