for a skid plate? Brand new OEM part.
My '01 SR5 doesn't have one and I can get a skid plate off of 2002 Sport. Seller claims it is an easy bolt on install.

Any ideas if it's a good deal and whether or not the install is just a bolt on.

Probably ships as an oversized item which means $. If you really want to know exact shipping, you need to get the height/width of the box and weight. Then call or visit your local UPS and have them give you a total from zip to zip.

Sounds a bit much to me though, I've shipped 4 rims and tires for around $200.

Should bolt on, hopefully you get the bolts with the skid.

The price of $140 is for the skid plate AND shipping. That's what I meant when I said $140 shipped.

I've seen the Tacoma version (different brackets) go for almost half that price.

I have it and I fabbed some simple brackets to move the plate forward 3" to perfectly hug the "fatlip" bumper. The 4Runner brackets place the plate about 2" lower and a bit more forward which I just don't like.

Fabricating brackets is not an option for me. This is an OEM piece (new) off of a 2002 Sport.
ROn, you think $140 is to much for a new bolt on skid plate?
And if yes, do you know where I can get it cheaper?

Why not call a Toyota dealership and talk to the parts guy to see how much a new OEM skid plate costs and compare?

Their computer says that part is no longer available. He can't even look up how much it was when it was available. That's why I am asking here.

I know you can get a Tacoma plate for $109 at the site below and just have a metal place fab two rectangular plates with corresponding bolt pattern which should run less than $20 including 4 new bolts and nuts.
If it is a bother I understand and $135 isn't outrageous from looking aroudn on the net and all I can find is 4th gen versions.

Also check on yotatech since most used plates go for $50-70.

are there any issues with mounting a taco or 02 t4r sport skid plate on a 98 runner? I like the stainless steel and more aggressive look and want to get something like that for mine. I don't want it sticking out more as the 99+ have the protruding bumper. Let me know if anybody's found anything that would work.

I don't think they should even call these "skid plates." They do nothing, as far as protecting your vehicle. Personally, I would not spend $140 on this piece of tin. I bent mine when I was going over a little ditch. It wasn't even that much of a scrape, but it was bent pretty good. So I just took it off.

Also, in the future, could you just put the whole sentence in the title of the thread? Or at least the main subject? (i.e. skid plate) It makes it easier for people to search.
