That is exactly what I'm looking for. I wonder if there would be anyway I could get the part number and order it?
You will have to import it from Japan. And I believe our body was not reinforced for the swingout. Only the 3rd gen in Japan had this option and the area where the swingout mounts was reinforced. Your better of getting a hitch tire carrier or a bumper with one.

getting a new part would be expensive plus the shipping cost. better to get a used one, say from japan, canada, or the uk. if you're lucky, you can get one from ebay.
you can look up the members (forgot their names) who have done the retrofit and maybe ask them how they got hold of the rear spare tire carrier and the body reinforcements.

People here have retrofitted 2nd gen ones that were available in the US onto their 3rd gens. I think the years to look for are 90-91 that had the option of a swingout tire carrier. [MENTION=83502]Kryptoroxx[/MENTION] did it and has a thread somewhere.

My ears were burning! I do indeed have the 2nd Gen Retrofit.
Honestly I got everything out of the pick and pull for 14 bucks IIRC.
As far as the retrofit goes it is not impossible because it still works great on my rig. No jiggles, no warps in the body panel, and nothing has come loose. I drive 4-6 miles of dirt road with washboard every day. It's on there pretty good.
Here's a direct link to the tire carrier build. Lots of pics to help out. Best of luck. Make sure that you really want to do this. There's no real going back once you start it but I think it is very worthwhile.

Yeah, I have a hitch motorcycle rack I put my enduro on for trail riding. I also sometimes tow an enclosed trailer, so I'm thinking twice about the retrofit. It's not that big of a deal to have the tire underneath. Thanks guys for the information and suggestions!

Yeah but I spent about 5% of what he did on the project with the same result lol. I'll stick with making my own parts. He has a great looking truck though. Mine is an ugly ducking that can lol.

I have a JDM 3rd Gen with the swing out carrier. You'll need the reinforced rear quarter which has the holes tapped for the M8 bolts. Easy way to see if you have this is to pull the trim panel on the left hand (passenger side on a US vehicle) and look in the quarter. If you don't see the reinforcement then you'll have to do some fabrication I suppose.
