is anyone running a plow on a 3rd gen?

was thinking with all this lovely weather up here in ct a plow might be a feesable option for one of my runners anybody have a plow on their runner that would give a good opinion?
i was driving an 01 tacoma w/plow today and it was not half bad cant think the runner would feel to much different?
please feel free to voice opinion,i know things break with plows and the amount i would use it wouldnt worry me.

I've seen a 4th gen Tacoma on the local Craigslist with a plow, but not a 4Runner. I'd love to have one on my 4Runner now that I live in Minnesota! I'd keep my street nice and clean, lol. It's so messy in the winter because they only plow when we get a heavy snow fall.
 
Got one on my cummins, wouldnt even consider it on my 4runner though.. theyre pretty heavy. But if you do it, would love to see some pics!
 
I've considered putting one on my '98 as I figure it's the only way I can justify keeping two 4runners. I live on a private road and my neighbors and I have to split payment on plowing the road so I would save some money plowing it myself.

You don't want a big plow and you don't want to be going fast or moving a lot of snow. I think you should be looking at a snowbear type plow which is light and cheap and will hopefully break before you truck does, but no matter what it's not good for the 4runner.


I wouldn't consider doing it with a daily driver and I am pretty sure I am not going to do it to my '98. I should sell it and buy a proper tractor or a pickup with a plow already.

have 2 runners myself live on dead end (last house) the plows half ass my street sometimes plow right up to my gate (if they plow at all? like today) when i came home w/the taco i cleared about 3+ feet of snow from either side of the road and made the street as wide as a summer day again in 25 minutes with a 6foot plow,minute mount w/remote. seems like if i only use it 3 or 4 time a year and that would only be when the snowthrower seems not the option it would pay for itself and the 98 w/higher miles and everything done including suspension would be the scape goat it would be ok.
if a wrangler cane do it the runner would kick ass!!!:lookout:
 
I like how the plow in the link says you have to see the price in the cart because it is too low, but all you save is $50 on a $1800 plow. Watch out for those killer savings. :lmao:

Exactly. Since a pull plow is rear mounted, you have no worries about messing up the front end of your 4Runner. It's simple and easy to mount & dismount, so that's a big plus too.

If you're sagging now, then I'd say yes for sure it will make it worse. On my 4th gen, the rear sits higher than the front, so the plow doesn't make it look like it's sagging at all.

If you put new rear springs in your 3rd gen, then you shouldn't have any sagging.

Okay, but remember that springs is what determines a vehicle's ride height, not shocks.

You need to do the springs to get rid of the drop butt.
 
The day i went to put the bilsteins in, i picked them up, drove down the street and the left rear shock broke at the top mount and i watched the bushing roll down the street behind me. I put the shocks in bc it needed shocks,lol. That was at 198k all orig. Springs were an after thought
 
i wouldn't recommend this. They are VERY hard on suspension components, cv joints tie rod ends etc. Even on "heavy duty" trucks.
