I don't find that TMV is a good deal because I feel it's usually too high. It can be helpful as a benchmark for how hot the sales are for the particular car and whether or not I can expect the dealer to take a good deal that's fair for both of us. If TMV is near or even above MSRP, the car is too hot at that time. To me, a good deal is near invoice, and it gets even better if there are rebates that can be applied to lower my cost even further.
