felt some light trembling a couple hours ago, but wasn't sure if just my imagination. Just checked the news and it appears that it was a real earthquake in Virginia and surroundings.

Are you guys ok down there? time to get a survival kit and keep it in trunk just in case, who know what happens next.

... That was kinda scary. Left work, got my kids- met my wife at home. All is fine- waiting for aftershocks(?). Expert on CNN said could feel aftershocks for weeks, but they should be small.

Yep - felt a tremor or two down here in the mountains of WV also. The Kanawha River in Charleston, WV actually rippled during the quake!

I work on the 5th floor of a high-rise in Northern VA. We got quite the shake. It started to get a little scary when it progressively got worse and we weren't sure how long it would last or when it would stop. We all evacuated the bldg, then were let back up briefly to get our stuff and go home. Building has to have a structural review.

I live in the district and several stoplights were out on the way home, and my cable isn't working either.

truck is fine. no limbs fell on it or anything.

made some news, but nothing really happened but nice shaking

I work in baltimore county MD. it rocked our building here for about 40-45sec. That was crazy. My wife also felt it in York PA

5.8? pffff.

I was in Palo Alto during the Loma Prieta quake. That was a 6.9 magnitude and the magnitude scale is logarithmic. Now that was a freakin' quake.

Yeah, but that's 5.8 on the east coast. Sort of like when it snows 2" in Texas. Everything shuts down. People in the NE laugh at us. LOL

I live a few minutes south of Charleston and didn't feel a thing. Others have said they did feel it and some said they didn't feel it. It was like it was hit or miss on feeling the shaking.

Worst earthquake in 40 years hit southern colorado this morning. The beginning of the end has begun - bring on 2012!! :gun4:

Starting to look that way. Notheast my be dealing with a Hurricane this time next week. I say bring it :surfer:

Dam It! I knew I should have waited for the 2012 "end of the world" 4 runner special edition.

hummm.. i wonder what it would have for standard features?

I was thinking the same thing but I didn't want to be "that guy". :)

Actually, 5.8 is a pretty decent sized quake considering structures out east aren't built for them.

I work on the 47th floor in an office in midtown Manhattan. The entire building shook and people panicked, but it was nothing serious. Most people left, but I came back to work.

Shocking earthquake damage to the East coast!
