Is it worth getting rid of my project? 1989 SR5

So Ive had this 4runner for about 3 years now. It was a write-off when I purchased it and have been slowly getting her back to standards. All that stands in my way now is replacing the rear quarter panels, which would not be too tough but challenging. I'm getting to the point where I want to throw in the towel, and the only thing holding me back is that there is only 186,000kms original on the truck (Sr5 1989).

So is it worth getting rid of? Is there even a market for it?

Not an authority but imagine it's an issue many classic Toyota truck and 4r owners have to face at some point. Suggess assess what it would cost to get the vehicle in a condition where it's machanically sound to a point, if unable to sell without taking a big loss, you would be willing to keep it? Unless in the process of restoring the vehicle I don't believe there's much of a demand, as probaly aware one can usually find 4-5 at local salvage yard. Recently had to make the same decission with my 90 T4r 4x4 going on 200k. So far, engine runs fine, no major electrical issues, rear axle assembly is fine, and the body is in decent condition, could use a paint job; however, the entire front suspension needed to be rebuilt, driver's side front axle replaced, and replace/rebuild front brake assembly. With a ' do it myselfer' made the repairs and replaced a couple tires at a cost of around $1500. Now the 4r handles like it were new and runs fine so I figures; baring any major problems, hope to get an additional 50-70 k had it cost more than 2-3 k may have looked for a low mileage later model?

My immediate answer is NO! But it depends on how much you really enjoy and love your truck. Straight up i bought mine for $3k a year ago. I then have since put close to $2500 into it. And now over $3000 after i bought the OME lift kit. I wouldn't get rid of it, not now or for awhile. Repairs don't bug me because: For one, i fix it myself; and two, i get the satisfaction of knowing i did the job right. I also look at it this way, every vehicle is going to cost you money. As proof my buddy bought a new dodge, and a turbo blew out on him only a few months in. So In my opinion it's not a big deal on the year because everything breaks and needs repairs. Just my .02 i guess. Hope you keep the passion for your truck bud :cowboy:
