Is my transmission overflowed with oil?

so i go my car few weeks ago from a wreck yard, and today i was checkin my transmission oil to see if i need to add some

and this is what i saw:

I dunno if you can really see it but its showing that my oil level is all the way up to the place where the stick twists.. which is way over...
I've done that while the car is COLD, i mean really cold...

Did the person who put the tranny oil overflew it or this is normal?

Drive it for 20 min, park it and shift through all the gears (P to L) and back. With it in "P", leave the engine running when you check it. Make sure you're on level ground. If it still reads over hot, drain some.

Hmmm it does look like its overfilled, especially since you said you checked it when it was cold. But to get a more accurate reading to be sure, follow what Brian wrote.

You always check auto trans fluis with the engine hot and running (opposite of checking motor oil).
