Is the 6th gen 4Runner?

Most likely, the 4runner seems to have a 7 year generation cycle; so 2017 seems logical for it to come in. Not to mention traditionally it's within year or two of a new Tacoma (3rd gen being released as a 2016) or vice versa since they are derivatives of the same platform.
 
The interior looks horrible, but it is a 4tuner.
The exterior is interesting. A little to glammed up if you ask me, but not bad.
It will be interesting to see what direction they go with the 6th gen

I thought the same thing, that back end is in serious rage rover territory.

Front end looks ok. Overall, having a hard time picturing it all built up :)

The new RAV4/Highlander/Corolla/Camry interiors are dated looking. The center console is very much less prevalent (which I know is a personal preference, but still I hate it). The materials are good (soft, quality), that is true. It's looking like interior (dashboards) are taking a step backwards. For example, in the Highlander (which optioned out is close to $50K), why is there a "bench" in the dash? What the hell is that for? To put your smart phone? EZpass? Wallet? Gum? Cigs? Machete in case of road rage?? I dunno.

As far as the exterior goes, well, I give Toyota credit for at least trying. I honestly like the "trapezoidal" grill (ala Lexus), but Lexus is going too far with it. Kinda like Audi, the "Ugly Grill In Your Face" look is started to where thin on me.

As far as the Foretuner, I would love to see that rebadged as the next 4Runner, but I would ABSOLUTELY love to see toyota rebadge the Prado as the next 4Runner. Either route would be cheaper for them to make happen. The "Chicken Tax" is looking like is going to get repealed, so here's hoping.

Those dumb engineer also put the seat belts near the center console instead of on the B-pillar. How do you buckle up in this thing? :help:

Edit: Never mind. On closer inspection, it looks like the seat belts are buckled and the straps are wrapped around the seat backs. It's odd that Toyota would release what looks like an official product shot of the new model Fortuner with the seat belts in that position/arrangement. :noidea:

I'd actually like to see a basic Fortuner with its Hilux ladder frame rebadged as a non-luxury low-cost FJ Cruiser with a manual transmission option. But that's just me.
 
not as sexy as the 3rd gen, but I'd consider one. Definitely an improvement over the 5th gen, imo.

My prediction, though: they're gonna go full-on, over-the-top fugly for the 6th gen in the us market. Big big blocky, plastic, huge grill, tacky.

5th gen never grew on me. 5th gen 1.0 ok, 5th gen 2.0 not so much... sorry

Just hope they don't go back to reflector halogens headlights and tail lights to give a reason for the mid-cycle refresh to introduce projectors and LED tails again.
This 4tuner gets LED headlights, nice!
6th gen will probably be bloated and tacky though :rolleyes:

Luckily I plan on keeping my 4thgen 4ever, last car I will ever buy for me?? :thumb:
 
An entry level Fortuner sold as a 4Runner "lite" would be nice, work with all the lifts already on sale with minor tweaks, and would be a direct transition for the 4Runner and FJC Crowd...

I doubt that Toyota sees value in Body on Frame and off roadability anymore, tho.

Are the Fortuners mechanically similar? The frame is different from the 4Runner/FJC/Tacoma

They're a Hilux mutant.

ARB sells kits for them and there's some overlap with FJC kits, so I'm guessing they're close.

I've seen them, but never actually crawled under one to take a better look.
 
With maybe a year or so away for the redesigned 6th gen 4runner I really hope I don't regret buying a 2015 Limited 4runner!!!!!! Maybe I should hold off another year! Crap! What would all you guys recommend?? thx
