Is the wiring in place for rear mounted speakers?

I have the Toyota 6-speaker system and want to add two more speakers to the rear cargo area. My question is for anyone who's had the rear A-pillar area disassembled and noticed if the speaker wires were already there. I was looking at the electrical wiring diagrams and they show speaker wiring on each side for the rear mirror mounted speakers.
Also, I want to know how much work is involved in removing the plastic covering on the rear pillar area on either side of the rear hatch.

I've just ordered an '05 Limited w/nav and I have a related question. When the Nav is added, the speaker number goes from 10 down to 8. Do you lose the 2 tweeters in the back or the sub/amp and center speaker? I'm new to the forum but I've been learning a lot here. Thanks.

I just picked up my 2005 sport... no NAV but I believe you lose the Center and sub. I think the salesman told me that when he was explaining the limited to me but I wouldnt bet the house on it ;-)

No, it's not there. Even if it were, it wouldn't help you since the systems that have those speakers have their amp in the rear passenger side quarter panel -- so all the speaker wires run to that spot, not the head unit.

Search for a write up from Mr.Castulucci. It shows you how to disassemble most of the backside of the truck -- though not specifically that pillar. You might want to invest in the factory service manuals. They have detailed procedures for removing everything. You can download them from a Toyota web site for ~$10. Search to forums for more information.

According to the 04 wiring manual and 04 brochure, the Nav system has 10 speakers. The on-line 05 brocure (http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/bat/features/4runner_features_bat.html) does indicate only 8 speakers though. I guess this is a change for 05. I hadn't seen it mentioned before now.

friends got 05 toyotas after 3 of us got 04s - they did a major upgrade to the stereo, so it doesnt sound as wussy as the 04 jbl dissapointment... maybe the 10->8 is part of that...
