Ok I have looked and cant find the answer....yes I tried to use the search button thanks.
I have a 1996 4runner and as I was wheeling it the other day I noticed there is NO dash light coming on (but it was in 4wd) showing it was in gear. Where would the light be located on the dash. Along with that, is there dash indicators on these rigs showing you when your in park, reverse, drive, etc.?
Again, sorry for such a lame post but I am going to rip the dash apart today trying to figure it out and any information would be great. Cheers!

4wd light

Yes, I believe so. My 98 has a little "green" driveline icon that illuminates on the right side of the dash when the lever is engaged. Mine stopped illuminating about two weeks ago; noticed it while in Death Valley. Pretty sure it was in 4wd since I was doing 55-60 on a dirt fireroad and even turns seemed stable. Having said that, I've been reading about the A.D.D. relay that connects to the front diff and actuates the 4wd through a vaccum line.
Not sure if my issue is a burned out bulb, (the 20 AMP 4wd fuse in the dash is still good) or the A.D.D, relay/hose or whatever. Just need to pull my skids off so I can have a look at what is going on. No trips planned in the near future, so lagging.

Thanks Josh! I went ahead and took out the instrument cluster today and low and behold...I figured out why the light wasnt working....it DID NOT have one. Along with that, it did not have A/T Temp light nor A/T P light. As I checked it out, looks like previous owner(s) switched out the cluster with another one (hence the yellow numbers and letters written on the bottom of it stating the year and make...kinda like what you find in a salvage yard. :toilet:
So the rig might not be low miles like I thought not to mention this opens up a whole other can of worms! FAWK!
Anyway, good part of the story is.....I SWAPPED another light and now my little green driveline lights up! :biggrin2:
