Is there a need for cup holders on the 96-98?

Just ordered the double for my 98 4wd ! I absolutely cannot stand the factory pull out thing, especially need a new option before installing the new touchscreen with carplay!

For anyone else who is wondering...
Placement for a USB port back there sucks. The only spot is the ash tray but any standard 12V USB adapter is too long to fit without modification. I did it myself but the inside does not look pretty.

I'm not a fan of bumping this thread but the time has come that I need to. I wanted to give you guys a heads up to coming changes. This year was a big year and we had to hire a few more people. Growth is good BUT it's REALLY complicating things. I still have my mechanical Engineering full time teaching job going and my 4 kids aren't getting any less time consuming. I have been racking my brain on how I can keep this 3D printing business going but free up some of my personal time. 70-80 hour work weeks are killing me. Lots of changes are in the works for making things easier on me and everyone here at the shop. We will still make everything in house (No outsourcing anything). I just wanted to give the 3rd Gen community a heads up on what changes will effect our 3rd Gen product line. Our painter used to spend a couple hours each day painting and the rest of the day processing orders and being my assistant. As we have grown in sales and drastically expanded our product line and color options; our painter is now painting all day every day. We have over 25 color options he's dealing with daily. I need him back helping with machines so I'm not doing it all day and night. What does that mean for you guys. As of next month we will no longer be selling cup holders in factory colors. ALL of our cup holders for all models will come in flat black. This will allow us to spray all the cup holders sold each day in one large batch instead of a dozen small different colored batches. We will use a SEM plastic paint that will be super strong and able to take paint over it so if you want to add the factory color to it you can without issue. We also have to find ways to cut cost and this helps. The cost of labor, shipping, packaging, paint, insurance, utilities, has all gone way up in the 8 years since I started this small business. I have not increased prices at any point and I don't plan to. I just have to make things simpler for my sanity, my family, and my employees. I understand this is HORRIBLE marketing. Coming to you guys and telling you I'm taking away options but I just felt like you should know why we had to make those changes. If you want your cup holder in the factory Toyota colors then they need to be ordered this month. We still have them in the factory colors in stock and will continue to make them in the factory colors for 2-3 more weeks. Starting April they will all go to flat black. Sorry for the bad news but it's a needed necessity for everyone involved. I will update the website soon with new pics of the black versions and will also post those pics here. Not sure if I'm a bit late to this, but my '96 has cupholders as standard that pop out of the dash, near the radio (seems to work fine with a single DIN radio for me)...

The double cup holder design does not work on the manul tranny for any version. We do make a single cup holder design specifically for the manual tranny console. You have to look at the single cup holder link.

It's been a year since I got my double cup holder as a Christmas gift and I am still loving it. A necessity for the 96-98 runner. A very quality item and comes with double sided tape and a screw to tap into the center console. Don't haggle with the price, it's worth every penny.

That is not normal. Our parts our put through a chemical bath to smooth out and harden each piece. It makes the part look better and becomes much stronger. Every once and a while some of the chemical gets trapped under the top layers of plastic and will bubble up in a high altitude/high pressure situation like a plane for delivery or going over a mtn. pass for delivery. It appears some bubble came up and then popped at some point. It's not usual but has happened before. It usually takes a few days before the top surface has softened from the trapped chemical and it's well on it's way to the new customer. Awesome, thank you for the quick reply. I will email you... If it was looks alone I wouldn’t even care much, but since it’s porous, I was concerned about not being able to wipe it out and it getting moldy or something. Thanks!
