Is there a need for cup holders on the 96-98?

Between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen folks I think I have around a dozen people interested in the CAD file. That doesn't really help me reduce demand/lower my stress. I was hopeful a large group would want the files and have access to getting them 3D printed. I guess we are a few years away from 3D printers being commonly available. Looks like I will just have to sit tight for a few years until the technology is more available.

3rd gen BH3D CH question

Okay so just this morning I ordered my front seat two cup holder and only tonight did I think of this question. Does the ashtray still open? And the reason I ask this isn't bcs I have the ashtray actually, but bcs I did the CB mod in the ashtray slot. Now I'm a bit worried it won't clear allowing a cup in the front slot. It also looks like the holder can't be mounted back further, it seems to have a very specific place along the shifter. Anyone can help with this question that has one? Hicks is on vacation camping for the week according to their web site so I can't ask directly.

Yeah I get into the ashtray easily. Removing the ashtray is not a problem either with the double cup holder.

Yup it will fit no problem, I have the double cup holder and CB mounted in the ashtray location. Works great!

It fits. My CB sticks out about an inch as well. On the super size fatty soda cups it somewhat touches my channel nob on the CB, but really not an issue. I haven't yet not been able to fit a drink in the frontmost cupholder.

Cup holders

I ordered and installed my cup holders from bhicks last years. This is one of the best mods I have done to my 97 4Runner. I used the double cup holder every day. Whether its storing my water bottle, or my iPhone, it just makes life a little easier. Fit and finish is awesome.

So it was recently brought to my attention that most of my images are now blocked by photobucket. They want a $400+ fee to reactivate my account and unlock my pics. Well, that's not going to happen. So I'm going to try a new image host and hope it works out. We will see in a few minutes.
Here are pics of the front double. This will work on the 2WD and 4WD Auto but NOT on the manual tranny. There 4WD shifter gets in the way. I have a single version designed to work on the manual tranny console.

On a 4wd auto double cup holder setup, do the 3m double sided tape strips attach to the back shifter trim only? Incase I want to get center console apart without the cup holder being glued to 2 different parts.

It attaches to both the black and tan parts. However I only used the tape on the black part on mine for the same reason as you and it works fine. I only have the single cupholder though, so I guess it would be less wieght. I do usually have a 40oz aluminum water bottle in it.

I would be interested in that but need to get the rear cup holder project off the ground first. then I can come back and take a look at it. JBurt let me keep his console since it's his old one so I will have a console I can work off of for that project. I'm not an electrician so my product would just be the plastic bezel and not all the wires, plugs, etc.

Just wondering if you're still considering this rear console USB project? This would be a fantastic addition to your lineup of products.

I am still open to the that project. I got some work done on it but the business kept growing and I had to take a break from r&d. I have a few new employees that have lessened my work load and am trying to get back to product development. Most of my time has been spent training them. I have about 6 projects I want to get back to in the next month or two and the 3rd gen rear 12 volt plug is one of them.
