Is this a concern? Leaking from CV axle

I replaced my CV axles about a year ago with a pair of Carquest axles and havent had any issues in the approx. 10k miles since. Over the last few weeks, I've started to see oil spots on the driveway. Today, when I finally had a chance to go under the truck to see what was going on, i saw that it seems like gear oil is seeping out of the differential where the axle mates into it (Im sure its not coming from the drain or fill plugs or the differential housing itself).

Is this a concern or is this a function of the aftermarket axles?

Pretty common. If you can replace the axles your self you can do the seals. Head to toyota, grab new seals, pull axles and replace seals, reinstall axle and fill with oil.

No, not an emergency, but you will want to take care of it. In the meantime, check your oil level every few weeks just to be sure you dont run low from the leak.

I too believe it's the seal. Did you put a new one in when replacing the axle? Old seals with new parts are always a leak risk. About 25000 miles ago, I replaced my driver side axle with aftermarket axle and the bearing with ECGS bushing. At the same time I replaced the seal. No leaks so far.

It's very common to damage those seals when replaced CV's. I've also put new ones in that have started leaking within a few thousand miles, not sure what I did wrong there, might be the press depth of the new seal.
