Is this a dust seal on CV joint?

Am rebuilding the front end on my 2002 SR5. Popped off the CV joints and plan to reboot and regrease them.

In the process I bent this washer/dust seal. Same on both sides:

I can tap them flat but would prefer to just order new ones. However it's not obvious to me what it is. I've been looking on parts sites and am pretty sure it's not a dust seal?

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Yes, it's a sort of seal to keep bigger debris out of the diff. It's common they get bent you pry the CV out of the differential. Just straighten them out as best you can and reuse them. I would only replace them if they were rusted out. I wonder if Toyota even sells those separately. They come with the CV axle when you buy one. If you're determined you want new ones, I'd just walk up to your local dealership parts department and have them help you. If they do sell them separately, they couldn't be that expensive.

Thanks Tim. Mine are clean just slightly bent. Now that I know they aren't holding grease in or anything I'll do my best to reuse.

If they were cheap to buy and available separately I'd do that but this is fine.

Thanks David. I looked at those photos and didn't feel confident enough that it was the ones. I'll order them up.

Just watched mtbtims video for the 3rd time to build my confidence to get it all done.

Is there no end to seals on these trucks?

I can't find this one now. It attaches to the end of the CV joint that presses against the hub. I guess there are two seals at that junction.

Parts sites don't seem to pull out the right details. I'll keep looking but if anyone knows it would be appreciated.

Can't you "press" it back on?

It's typically a dust shield. The one on the hub itself is the seal

It has a rubber edge that looks like it does more than dust? But I don't know that for sure.

I can press it back on, it just would be the right time to replace it.

Still poking at parts pages to try to find it. Man, the diagrams are hard to read!

I've not found it available by itself, even the dealer sells a complete refurbished axle vs all the individual parts.

The seal on the hub has a spring that keeps it tight on the axle outer journal. Hammer/drive the dust shield you have back onto the axle as best as you can.

Ok, it may be this dust seal. 43501K and 43502K here:

McGeorge sells them for $37 each. Yikes. The bonfire of money continues.

If anyone can provide feedback on if I am right on this part, please chime in..!

I had some inboard seals lying around here's a pic with part num. Also the snap rings.

Part number for the seal on the outboard end should be 90304-80002.

Excellent, thank you. I'll also order the snap rings, forgot about that. Interestingly, those snap rings say they don't fit my 2002 Sr5. I'll find the right ones.

Also thank you for the confirmation of that seal too.. While I bet my olds are ok, but may as well do it "while I'm in there".

Put your VIN in partsouq.com they have photos of nearly all parts, the little camera icon next to p/n and the diagrams are the easiest to use in my experience. You can cross reference with mcgeorge or olathe to make sure.
