Is this a good deal on a 2006 T4R Sport Edition?

I have been looking to join the Toyota 4runner family for about a month or two now and I think that it is possible that this could be my ticket in!

Now, this vehicle has a 143k miles on it, which makes me a little weary. Is that too many miles? If it is, what should I set my limit at for when I am looking in the future?

I do like the color, the color of the interior, and I definitely want the v6 with the 4wd instead of the v8. I just do not think that I need the extra power that the v8 provides.

I have not been to look at this vehicle in person. It is about an hour and a half away. I thought I would check with you guys before I decided if I should make the trip up there. So, what do you guys think of my potential new vehicle? Any feedback is appreciated and will be accepted!

Looks like a very decent price to me... wouldn't worry too much about mileage as long as its well maintained.... the only thing to keep an eye on is the XREAS. I'd also run it thru both carfax and autocheck to get its full history.

Hard to say without seeing the engine and under-body...

But a red flag: Why listed so cheap?!?! Alaska?
Get it checked out then buy!

Thank you for the response. And I have checked the carfax on it (there is a link to them provided on the TrueCar website) and it seems there were some gaps in the maintenance. I am not that familiar with CarFax. Any ideas why there would have been some gaps?

Also, as far as the XREAS goes, I am aware that pretty much everyone has a problem with that at some point. Is the main problem with them just the leaking or do they actually break? I think that I would like to change out the XREAS at some point in the future. Not really sure how much that would run me though and I do not have any mechanic experience =)

This is why I specified to also run the vehicle thru Autocheck. $20 for a single report for peace of mind. I cannot comment on the XREAS, as I ended up buying a Limited without XREAS. But from what I've read, if you have a leaking XREAS system, its pretty much "broken" and most everyone on here simple removes it and replaces their shocks/struts with some Bilsteins or something like that. Either way, it might be an added cost to consider.

Go here https://auth3.toyota.com/owners/web/pages/my-vehicle and register your vehicle. See where the last maintenance was done and if it's recent enough call the shop that comes up and do some probing. Way more legit than a carfax.

I know that this thread is quite old, but I thought I would update it. Not sure if anyone will see it or not.

I decided that I would go ahead and make the 1.5 hour trip to go and check out the 4Runner after speaking to a sales rep at the dealership. I get to the dealership and the guy tells me that it had actually been sold a week prior to my visit! Needless to say, I was pretty bummer out and I will not be doing business with this dealership in the future.

I bought both my runners by FIRST negotiating all details prior to going to the stealership via email. They absolutely hated it, lol. But was in and out in less than an hour when test driving and buying
