Is this gap normal after re-installing steering wheel?

Looking at other pics on the net, my nut appears to be seated okay. I just don't recall there being this much of a gap. Thanks!

I replaced the turn signal with the part# Speedy put in his SportRunner. Could the shaft have been pulled up when pulling the steering wheel? Thks!

1997 Limited here, it looks way off, but I just took a few pictures of mine and the gap is pretty similar.
