I did a compresion test on my motor today. The guy I got it from said he rebuilt it and that it only has about 1200 miles on it and these were the results. #1 155 #2 150 #3 150 #4 140. I know there isn't supposed to be anymore of a differance than 14psi or so I was told, just looking for some feed back. :redbrick:

Those numbers aren't horrible. Keep in mind that it can take more than 1200 miles to break in a motor depending on how it was driven. Also, did you do the compression test after warming up the engine?

How does the motor feel when driving? What were the concerns that made you want to do a compression test?

I did the compression test after it was warmed up, the main reson for doing the test is that the guy I got it fromed said he rebuilt the whole engine pistons, rings, bearings, and said he re did the head and had it shaved. I'm not exactly sure what he means when he says shaved the head any help on that would be nice to. As far as how the motor runs it seems to be good no smoke and no leaking from anywere. all though it dosent get the gas mileage i thought that it would but it runs great.

A shaved head is when some of the material is machined off the side that goes against the head gasket. It can be done cor a couple reasons. One is the head is warped and needs to be flat. The other is to raise the compression a little above manufactures specs.

What gas mileage are you getting? Do you have a lift, if so what lift? And what size tires?

So a shaved head is not necisarly a bad thing, that's good. As far as gas mileage I'm getting about 15 miles to the gallon the truck is on 34" super swampers with a three inch lift. Has new plugs, new air filter, oil, and cap and rotor.

Unless you have regeared your diffs, that mileage is about right.

I don't think you have much of a problem. Drive it and enjoy!!

as i always say it is not rebuilt unless you have receipts for all the parts and labor
