Is This Normal?

My 2006 Sport V6 has about 7500 miles on it. I have noticed recently that while sitting at a light waiting for it to change, it feels like the engine downshifts even though I'm not moving. Is this normal?

The 4Runner has a slip joint (telescopic) drive shaft that will bind and cause a thump, when stopped. There is a grease fitting for it and when greased it should help alot.

It could also be your A/C compressor kicking in. I didn't notice it too much with the V6, but I can definitely feel it with my V8.

Are you saying when you let off the brake to leave, or just sometime when you are there? Mine has a thump when I let off the brake at a light.

Drive line thunk.

It's ths slip yoke in teh drive line. Have it greased real well and it will stop. I had it for a while and mentikned it to the dealer on an oil change and he took care of it.

I greased my drive shaft real good a couple days ago, and it still does it. Maybe I missed a zerk or two, it's better, but still thumps.

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems to me that there is a change in RPM's when it happens like the transmission is making a shift. I will pay closer attention and report back.
