is this normal?

got a 93 4runner automatic. when in 4low I give it gas but it feel's like its slipping. it will rev up going nowhere then it will shift hard into gear. I never really use the 4 wheel drive but I make it a point to at least get in into gear every now and then. so has anyone else had this problem? thanks gents

It will run out of gear really quick in L4... Drive it up a steep incline real slow, then you know for sure if it's slipping....
