That type of error is server-side in my experience, so I can't suggest a local fix. I am using multiple machines to access t4r.org at work daily and have never seen that error. I use everything from this ancient Win7 box to beta versions of macOS on M4s and have not seen Apache return that error. Do you use a VPN, off-brand ad- blocker, or a mobile phone as a hotspot? This forum is still very old by current standards despite recent updates. Do you use funky browser extensions that have a built-in search engine?

I just lost tapatalk access when they did some updates quite a while ago now. Plus like Heat mentioned you cant do anything without being asked if your human now.

I suspect like Endlessblockade stated, you have having an issue on your side with your computer.. Some kind of an extension etc messing with your session as url too long means the address line is larger then the web server can deal
with as per googles AI
"AI Overview
A "URI Too Long" error (HTTP 414) means the web server can't handle the length of the requested URL (Uniform Resource Identifier). This can happen when a URL exceeds the server's configured limit, often due to long query strings in a GET request or improper redirection loops. "

Pop ups

Recently I have experienced several pop up warnings of security breaches but I Know its not real and merely adware - ONLY happens when i visit this site - Not one single other so I know its fake yet somehow only Inspired to act up here - HMMMMM.

I was getting a full-screen pop-up with a ransomware demand, which I just closed because it wasn't real. Now I get the URL too large msg also. Just on my PC- Chrome on Win 10. It's annoying and detracts from the site

If anything this site has been less broken since they switched to Cloudflair, a year or two ago it was not a guarantee you'd be able to get connected.

I haven't had any popups but I use an adblocker. Without it being on this site feels like being on a sketchy putlocker or a porn site with the ads and full screen popups.

Though the UI this site uses is 6 or 7 years old and out of date, so it's certainly not getting better in that regard.

We (mods) have been pushing and pushing for a site update for years but the owner(s)/admin are unresponsive. In fact, we can't get any support from them at all, but that's besides the point.

We all agree there are some nuances to using the site. Some more annoying than others. Just going to have to live with them.

The ugly truth is that Forums are a way of the past. Albeit still informational, they're less commonly used with the development of social media platforms, the rise of youtube documenting, OpenAI, etc etc..
Unless there's another ransom attack or major issue, I doubt they invest into this platform any further.

Isn't Thai the owner of the forum?
The problem is basically anything that might be an alternative to a forum still derives its knowledge from a forum. AI scrapes forums, Youtubers and FB groups cite older forums, and social media doesn't have any knowledge from what I've seen.

Anything older than a 4th gen will have primarily existed at a time when forums are all there was, so most knowledge is still held on sites that if they were to disappear would do so without a trace.

No, Thai is not the owner.

I do agree to an extent. I'm just simply stating why the forum is still the way it is and why there likely wont be any improvements to it moving forward.

The bottom line is that you can reduce or eliminate the problems listed at the beginning if you use some decent anti-virus and ad-blocking software.

I use 3 laptops running Win7, 10, and 11 and see none of those problems. No ads, no popups, no threatening banners, etc. I use MalwareBytes A-V and DDG browser/browser extension.

so...i started this thread because of issues. Id get kicked off so often and was told it was my server causing the "uri too large"
so now it all seems to be working...and if "server " meant my internet supplier I dont know. I had no issues on any other sites...some bigger than this. Crossing my fingers that it is fixed.
There was a comment that forums like this are loosing ground on other platforms....such as facebook 3rd gen...but Ive been there done that and they are nowhere as good as this forum or the taco forum I go to ....and they peeps there keep asking same questions....which oil...what tire....what lift...oem
or other on lbjs...anyone seen this issue....what is it worth? its like they want t instant answers and no looking up stuff and the next day again the same questions pop up

Exactly, people want instant answers without any work to find them.

People be getting lazier and stupider. :ohwell:

This site is getting ridiculous with ads.
