...gay for a heterosexual guy to drive? I have an acquaintance who has owned (and babied) this vette for almost 20 years - she's the 2nd owner. She's having a baby in the next few months and will be selling her vette to get a minivan. She will sell it to me for dirt cheap since she knows it will go to a good home, but I'm wondering if this car is too So Gay (not that there's anything wrong with that :D ) for me to drive. Mrs. GG and I would use this car just for occassional weekend cruising to car shows, etc. I've always been a fan of the C4's - I was in high school when they came out and remember being blown away when I first saw one. I was also a huge fan of the A-Team back in the day - I actually found a clip on youtube of Face's white vette :D

The more important question is which minivan your friend will buy?????? :D

The Vette looks clean...not gay, but midlife crisis flag should be going up!
 
I am a big fan of vettes...too. I Love my 4Runner...but..

I wish I could own one of these before I die. Or both if its possible...lol...

Thanks Thai, actually I did tell her that my anal retentive SUV nut friend drives a Sienna - so I think she's leaning in that direction :D
I did hit forty so I guess I'm allowed to be seen in a vette, right? :D Except I still have most of my hair - so maybe I'm supposed to wait til I go bald?

Hey Thai, btw, do you remember if we were able to embed YouTube vids in the old software the way I did above? Pretty amazing I think.

Does it have a hardtop too?
 
Be aware that those Vettes as they get older (100k miles+) they are prone to things going out and they become (if it hasn't already) rattle traps;they have solid drivetrains but the build quality is so-so.

My mom had a '95 and by 75k miles she had replaced the starter,AC condenser and one of the headlamp motors had failed.

IMO,I bet you could find something in the same price range that's better built and more fun to drive.

Thanks for the warning Ron - I did spend a few hours on a corvette forum and it seems like you basically need to be prepared to spend a couple grand every year for repairs. But I might buy it anyway - I love the cheesy digital dash, the wide tires and low stance, plus I'm sort of digging the A-Team effect :D I've driven it and it performs very nicely for a car this old and it's a real head turner - I rarely see C4s on the road in this nice condition. Was your Mom's car white too? It just seems a bit girly.
 
even if that thing cost me 100 bucks i wouldnt buy it beacuse my insurance would be so ****ing high. really what do u think geico or allstate would say when i went up there to get it insured?? they would laugh as they took my money. i prob couldnt afford the insurance if the thing was free haha. but yea if your over 40 go for it
 
$2000 a year in repairs on a non daily driver is a bit rediculous and unacceptable in my book and why own something that is known to nickel and dime a person.
Older Vettes and even C5s have been known to have issues after the 50k mark;my friend just sold his '06 Vette since his had some issues right as he got past 45k on it and on the Vette forums he wasn't alone.

If you can afford the unexpected then go for it but don't say you weren't warned.

Great cars but poor execution for as much as they cost.
 
The Vette is only gay because its a auto, and tell her to buy a Discovery 2 or LR3 they are both 7 seaters and a lot less gay, and great in bad weather.

Oh yeah, get a Land Rover and you will REALLY know what is meant by, "shit happens!" :redbrick: My brother's Disco II's ABS went south at around 50k miles on his way to Chicago in December!! Oh yeah, great in bad weather my ass! :roadkill:

And now with Indian heritage behind it, i am sure that LR's prestige is at an all-time high! :D Well, British heritage didn't get far either....

Hmm, this place seems a little one sided, wonder why, i got a Disco 2 and love it great in winter and ABS is overated, but mine works. But you suppose a minivan is better in winter???

Hey, at least, my Sienna runs with all electronics working as advertised. I will take my minivan with winter tires over your Disco anyday of the week. And this is my minivan...my G500 will run circles around your Disco off-road, on-road, and in any weather condition known to man! :flipoff:

My brother was a big fan of LR until his Disco II failed repeatedly past warranty period...first it was ABS, then transmission, then AC, then...well, you get the picture.

Where is LR heritage now?
 
:flamewar: Hey Thai I'd love to help you pile on about LandRover's quality but, uh, I just bought an '88 vette, and I have a Jeep too - so I'm not sure I"m really in a position to comment :D BTW, where's that old thread with the pic of the new Land Rover customer service rep? I did a quick search and couldn't find it :D
